I can't stop thinking about Quintien, the 16-year-old victim of the Fairmount fire. He held doors for people at his #PHLed school. When a teacher's relative died from gun violence, he went to her home to comfort her. Stories of some of the lost: inquirer.com/news/philadelph…

I can't stop thinking about this story. What is happening to this country?

I am so tired of caring about journals.
The journal your work lands in reflects the zeitgeist of "what matters" in a field; access to $ for APCs; & the opinions of 2-4 humans.
Whenever folks wanna graduate to just doing our best work & celebrating preprints, I'm here for it.

I’m a bit late, but excited to share our article in Cognitive Science! Thank you to my mentor Dr. Bruno Galantucci for this amazing opportunity to learn about how conversations break down and how people respond to interlocutors whom they don’t understand.

“Neli will never be the same...His life was snuffed out. Although he is still alive, it was taken away from him.”
“The officers left him in the Pro-Straint chair, unable to move, eat, or use the restroom, for more than nine hours, reads one document.”

“Neli Latson’s life changed in the same swift way the lives of so many other black people have: with a stranger’s call to the police."

When someone says something that doesn’t make sense, do we ask them about it or not? New preprint out on @PsyArXiv from our work in Dr. Bruno Galantucci’s human communication lab at @Yeshiva_College @YUNews!

The term “high-functioning” implies more than just that non-autistic people get to evaluate autistic people’s success; it also implies that autistic people are not capable of thriving. Kudos to the researchers who are working to stop its usage. It’s been a long time coming.
#Autistic people described as ‘high functioning’ because they do not have intellectual disability often still struggle with daily living skills, according to a new study. bit.ly/discard_high
Journalists: would you write a feature article about a neurotypical person without bothering to quote *them*? No. You wouldn’t. Don’t do that to people with disabilities. It’s demeaning and does more harm than good to your readers’ perception of them.

Recently, Mispacha Magazine--which does not print women's or girls' faces as a matter of policy--printed a picture that included a group of girls with Down Syndrome. At first, we got excited that they printed girls' pictures! Then we realized in horror that it was a case of this:
