He DIDN'T lose. Read past the clickbait image.
The court dismissed Tsuda's request to delete the TikTok videos because they had already been deleted, BUT stated that a performer's voice IS PROTECTED by publicity rights.
This is a WIN for actors in Japan.
Kenjiro Tsuda's AI Voice lawsuit has reportedly been dismissed ✍️
The Jujutsu Kaisen and Yu-Gi-Oh! voice actor sued TikTok over more than 180 videos that allegedly used AI to imitate his distinctive voice without permission.
The Tokyo District Court dismissed the case after TikTok and the user involved had already removed the account and videos, meaning there was no longer content for the court to order removed.
However, the ruling also addressed an important issue, recognizing that a person’s voice can be protected as a personal symbol under publicity rights.
That makes Tsuda’s case significant beyond the outcome itself.
As AI becomes increasingly capable of recreating familiar voices, the question of who has the right to use those voices is only becoming more important.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
The image claims Tsuda "lost his case," but the Tokyo District Court dismissed the removal demand only because the videos/account were already deleted and ruled that voices are protected under publicity rights like images—the first such ruling in Japan.

The need to output faster anime dubs to capitalize on a show's popularity has largely led to an increase in more faithful and accurate localizations and I'm sick of it. Need more insane bullshit like Trunks calling 13 a "Red Ribbon Redneck"
Nintendo to announce the closure of their mouths as they report employees fully fed and slappin' their bellies

It’s been nuts to watch a facist government install every classic facist technique in the playbook all while people try and look at you in the eyes and say “Trump isn’t a facist”

Feel so bad for the Sony employees who get forced to remake popular gifs born of affection of other media and regurgitate it as a marketing gimmick divorced of context, indicating a lack of the qualities that made those moments so endearing in the product they're meant to promote

Fans might like your products, but if they really resonated with them you wouldn't have to be doing this and similar gifs would come about naturally, from the game itself or fans, and what's more they'd be wholly your own.
