🐎 9 REASONS THE THOROUGHBRED INDUSTRY SHOULD CARE ABOUT THE RETIRED RACEHORSE PROJECT #3: The Thoroughbred Is a Breed, Not Just a Racehorse A Thoroughbred’s athleticism doesn’t end at the finish line and its potential extends far beyond the racetrack. 🧡 The @RRP_TBMakeover Thoroughbred Makeover showcases the incredible versatility of the breed, introducing Thoroughbreds to new audiences and demonstrating their potential across a wide range of disciplines and careers. 🏇 An eventer sees an athlete. 🐴 A hunter rider sees their next partner. 🌿 A trail rider sees a dependable companion for adventure. 🤝 A young rider sees a horse to grow with. 💼 A professional trainer sees a business opportunity. Different riders. Different goals. One incredible breed. Every new discipline represents another potential landing place for a retired racehorse — and another opportunity to expand the market for Thoroughbreds beyond racing. For the racing industry, that means more than finding homes for horses after their careers on the track. It means building awareness of the breed’s athleticism, adaptability, and value to the broader equestrian community. The Thoroughbred Makeover helps make those possibilities visible to a larger population, connecting horses with new opportunities and reminding the world that a Thoroughbred is so much more than a racehorse. The more people who recognize what this breed can do, the brighter its future becomes. 🧡 #RetiredRacehorseProject #ThoroughbredMakeover #ThoroughbredAftercare #Thoroughbreds #HorseRacing #Equestrian

NEW HORSE POSTED! Meet OSKAR MARTINEZ located at our Hummelstown, PA location available for adoption : newvocations.org/horse_detai…

💜 Roses are red, violets are blue, but UNNAMED LILACS '23 might be the flower you've been waiting to bring home! 💜 🏆 2023 Thoroughbred Gelding 🏆 16 h 🏆 2027 RRP Eligible 🏆 Location: Ocala, FL 🏆 FMI: newvocations.org/horse_detai… If you've scrolled past Lilacs before, consider this your sign to give him another look! 🌸 This handsome young gelding is growing into himself, and we're loving the horse he's becoming. With a playful personality, a willing attitude, and a genuine interest in learning, Lilacs has been a fun youngster to bring along. He's easy to lead in a plain halter, gets along well with his pasture buddies, and is a straightforward keeper who doesn't need any special management. He's still polishing his cross tie manners but stands nicely for grooming and tacking with supervision. Under saddle, Lilacs has settled into an age-appropriate routine and is making steady progress with the basics. Because he had limited race training, he's still very green and can occasionally get a little wiggly or round his back after an extended break, but he's responded well to a confident rider who simply encourages him forward. Lilacs is looking for an adopter who enjoys developing young horses, appreciates a little playful personality, and can offer him the consistency he needs to blossom. He retired with a knee injury and is best suited for a moderate-impact career, where he can continue building his skills with the right partner. This flower might need a little time to bloom, but we think the right person will find he's well worth the wait! Interested in adoption? 😇 A little GRACE, a little mischief, and a whole lot to love! UNNAMED DANI'S GRACE '23 is ready to charm his way into your barn! 😇 🏆 2023 Thoroughbred Gelding 🏆 16.1 h 🏆 2027 RRP Eligible 🏆 Location: Ocala, FL 🏆 FMI: newvocations.org/horse_detai… "Dani" is the kind of youngster who makes it awfully easy to fall in love with the process of bringing along a young horse! This handsome gelding is relaxed, social, and full of personality, with just enough baby antics to keep you smiling. One of his favorite tricks? Carrying his lead rope around in his mouth! 😂 Despite his young age, Dani is respectful to lead, stands patiently for grooming and tacking, enjoys baths, and happily soaks up attention from his people. Under saddle, he's been consistent at the walk, trot, and canter and is showing himself to be a willing, trainable partner. He's still green and can have an occasional baby moment, so he'll thrive with an experienced adopter who enjoys taking their time and building a solid foundation. Dani has remained sound throughout his training and has potential for a moderate-impact career with appropriate maintenance. He's also easy to care for, enjoys turnout with a quieter gelding, and is a controlled cribber. If you're looking for a sweet, personable youngster with a bright future and a little playful streak, Dani might be just the right addition to your barn! Interested in adoption? 🐎 9 REASONS THE THOROUGHBRED INDUSTRY SHOULD CARE ABOUT THE RETIRED RACEHORSE PROJECT #2: Changing the Narrative What if the conversation around retired racehorses shifted from “I feel bad for racehorses” to “I can't wait to own a retired racehorse” One of the most important impacts of the @RRP_TBMakeover is changing how the equestrian world views Thoroughbreds after racing. They’re talented, athletic, versatile athletes with the potential to excel in a wide range of disciplines — from eventing and show jumping to dressage, hunters, foxhunting, trail riding and beyond. The Thoroughbred Makeover puts that potential on full display, giving trainers, owners, and spectators a front-row seat to what these horses can accomplish with thoughtful retraining. It helps shift the narrative from rescue to opportunity — and from an emotional decision to a smart equestrian purchase. For the racing industry, that distinction matters. When more riders recognize the value of a Thoroughbred as a sport horse, the market for these horses expands. More demand creates more opportunities for successful transitions, strengthens the connection between racing and the broader equestrian community, and reinforces the value of the breed long after its racing career ends. The goal isn’t just to find Thoroughbreds new homes. It’s to make the Thoroughbred a horse people actively seek out. 🧡 That’s a future worth investing in — and the Retired Racehorse Project is helping make it happen. Follow along as we share the remaining reasons the racing industry should care about the RRP, and help spread the word about the incredible potential of the Thoroughbred beyond the track! #RetiredRacehorseProject #ThoroughbredMakeover #Thoroughbreds #ThoroughbredAftercare #HorseRacing #Equestrian

A Bad Little Beast? More like a BIG ol' sweetheart with new pics in the fall leaves! 📸🍂 🤎 2017 Thoroughbred Gelding 🤎 16.3Hh 🤎 2027 RRP Eligible 🤎 Location: New Wilmington, PA 🤎 Learn more: newvocations.org/horse_detai… BAD LITTLE BEAST, better known as “Beast,” is back with some fresh fall photos, and we think this handsome guy deserves another moment in the spotlight! Don't let his name fool you! At 16.3 hands, Beast may be a big boy, but he's about as sweet and easygoing as they come. He's a gentleman on the ground, loves spending time with his people, and is perfectly happy to stand for a grooming session. Under saddle, Beast is the definition of a laid-back partner. He's got big, smooth gaits, a willing attitude, and has proven himself comfortable riding alone or in a group. With some wear and tear from his racing career, Beast is looking for a lower-impact second career where he can enjoy pleasure riding, trail adventures, or potentially a role in an intermediate/advanced lesson program. He's also continuing his weight-gain journey and may appreciate some additional nutritional and joint support as his workload develops. Interested in bringing Beast home?
