The very same Adam Smith Institute that welcomed the Truss mini-budget. Credibility eh?

Well it was @GBNEWS that claimed the "exclusive" on this story and platformed @georgedmadgwick - so perhaps he can start there.
So the flag shaggers were lying? I do hope Tim Martin finds out who they were and sues them.

This will, inevitably, be proven to be complete bollocks. But if anyone's going to amplify Poppy Rage, it'll be @GBNEWS.

And here we go. Another @GBNEWS "exclusive" that was completely untrue - but hey, got loadsa clicks.

This is nonsense. You've taken the word of an unverified source and covered yourself with "appeared to" (have been banned). They weren't refused entry for wearing poppies, and you know this. You've also caused a pile on against hard working hospitality staff.

And as sure as night follows day, it turned out to be bollocks

But your main, untrue and misleading, headline remains. How does this comply with the @GBNEWS Editorial Charter? Or any basic journalistic code of practice?

I've adjusted the copy. Thanks

1/ COMMS AND PR : This extraordinary chain of events is made only more absurd by the fact that @TfL and others have mahoosive marketing budgets. It seems posters appeared warning people to report suspiciois activity. So far so good. But...
TFL are now claiming the 'Are they hiding something?' poster is unauthorised flyposting... but official news sources covered these posters going up, including variants of that exact poster. TFL say they have reported it to British Transport Police, but... it looks like BTP themselves ran the campaign.

7/ Outside contractors are often a necessary part of a big campaign - and I should know, as that's how I make part of my living! But the crucial thing is to have a clear chain of command, checks and sign off. It looks like that didn't happen here.

8/ And yes, I have just read back through the thread and noted some terrible grammatical typos. Which kind of illustrates the point.

Every pub I drink in has a blackboard displaying prices in pints. Not a ml measurement in sight.
Replying to @peterrhague
Miles are good though. Pints are good too. It’s silly that it’s literally illegal to sell pints of drinks without prominently displaying “568ml”. Dumb.

Just @GBNEWS, casually spreading disinformation. They weren't barred "for wearing a poppy", they were refused entry for being part of a massive mob like protest who were likely to upset regular customers.
"Get that guy to a history class so he can learn why the poppy is so important" @Benleo reacts to customers being banned from a pub in Gosport for wearing poppies - after being told the symbol could be perceived as "political."

Oh look which “veteran they aren’t letting in because they’re wearing poppies” This has all turned very embarrassing for you both hasn’t it. Ah well….

In the biggest non-surprise of the day, it’s not true “For today” is the key phrase. Today being the day when there were several protest groups in town and the landlord decided he didn’t want trouble from *any* of them. Regulars only. “For today” You’re both lying. Again

The utterly utterly disgraceful thing is that the Police WERE needed to keep you out of Wetherspoons and the manager was 100% within his legal rights & responsibilities to deny you entry, and neither was he legally obligated to give a reason. That is the law.He didn't want a bunch of thugs in the premises so denied you entry.
