What if you could add 1 word to your YouTube title and get +400% more views?
Now you can.
Here's how:

Instagram wants to compete with YouTube on long form.
It’s testing 90 minute horizontal videos called Features, built for podcasts, interviews and vlogs.
Your Reels can link straight to the full video and Instagram is building a TV app to show them on.
Meta should be taken seriously here.
It has billions of users and one of the best short-form feeds to send viewers to your long videos.
What I’m watching is the pay.
Instagram doesn’t pay creators per view, and it hasn’t said what Features will pay.
YouTube pays 55% of the ad money on long-form.
Entry level creators follow the money.
How much Meta offers will decide how big this gets.

You can still be "anti-AI" and use the tool.
Expecting any creator to fall behind their competitors because of their "moral stance" is stupid.
There are kids in Africa mining rare Earth metals for our phones and we still use them.
We need to stop pointing the finger at creators using AI and ask ourselves: "is the content good?".
In this case the answer is yes.
The YouTube automation era is over.
Automated channels are getting demonetised for “generic and repetitive content”
Even those protected by big media networks.
This is only the start.
AI videos are getting cheaper to make every month.
YouTube’s checks will get stricter every month too combat an inflow of near identical videos.
By 2027, any channel without a real host will be at risk.
Put yourself in your videos.
You won't regret it.

AI will make most information worthless on YouTube.
Anyone can get an answer from ChatGPT in seconds.
Moving forward people will subscribe for two things:
1. Your opinion
2. Your personality
If you sound like most channels in your niche, viewers have no reason to pick you.

This Github repo should be illegal for YouTube creators to have for free.
It's a Claude Code plugin that edits your videos.
Give it your raw recording and say what you want. It cuts your mistakes and retakes, adds title cards, charts and captions, and exports to Premiere Pro, Final Cut or DaVinci.
Set your channel's colours, fonts and logo once.
Every video after that matches.
It's called TubeAI.

Now is the best time ever to start a YouTube channel.
Americans’ total media time hasn’t grown since 2018.
It’s stuck at about 25 hours a week.
Meanwhile, YouTube is growing faster than anything else, at +7.8% a year.
Attention isn’t growing but it’s moving to YouTube.
Every hour it gains comes from TV, print and streaming.
Pick your niche and start filming.
Americans' media consumption has topped out at ~25 hours a week
Annual growth since 2018:
- YouTube: +7.8%
- Social media: +6.6%
- Gaming: +2.1%
- Video (non-YouTube): -0.7%
- Print: -10.5%
Every hour social and YouTube gain is an hour something else loses

CREATORS: YOUTUBE JUST GAVE VIEWERS A NEW WAY TO FIND YOUR VIDEOS.
It's called Custom Feeds, and it's rolling out in the US now.
Viewers type what they want in plain English, like:
"30-minute podcasts on investing"
Gemini builds a feed from it, with its own tab on the homepage.
Your videos now have to match the sentence a viewer types.
Here's how to get picked:
1. Say what the video is about in your title, plainly
2. Say it again in your first 15 words, so viewers know they're in the right place
3. Write a description that explains the video in one sentence
4. Stick to one topic, so YouTube knows exactly who your channel is for
The creators who are easiest to describe will be the easiest to find.
🎨 Say hello to a refreshed @YouTube homepage experience!
There’s a new simplified top bar, with quick access to your subscriptions alongside Movies & TV, Live, Music, and your custom feeds.
Custom feeds are your personalized saved searches that go beyond just keywords; describe a type of content, a topic, or even just a vibe you’re looking for, and browse the recommendations that are continuously updated as new content is available. You can add, edit, or remove your custom feeds in the top bar at any time.
YouTube has gone full circle.
In the early 2010s, the biggest educational channels were one person and a whiteboard.
Professor Leonard filmed his maths lectures in a classroom and got millions of views.
Then YouTube went through the production era with bigger budgets, faster cuts and polished edits.
Now AI gives everyone that production for free.
So the edge has gone back to where it started.
Max Fisher sits at a desk with a corkboard explaining world news, and gets millions of views.
1 person, a board, and something worth explaining.
Welcome back to the authenticity era.

Even YouTube is telling you to make TV shows.
In January, its CEO called creators “the new stars and studios”.
In September, it launched Shorts Series, with seasons and episodes.
Now it’s telling creators to group videos into playlists people watch in one sitting.
Every update points the same way.

YouTube is bringing video A/B testing to select creators next year.
You'll be able to test up to 3 edits of the same video and pick the winner from the stats.
Testing 3 completely different edits is a waste of time imo. If the hook, pacing and ending all change, you won't know which change made the winner.
The value is in testing one thing at a time.
I'll be testing 3 different hooks, then 3 different CTAs.
Run that across 10 videos and you'll know exactly what works for your audience.

The next major YouTube opportunity is TV shows.
YouTube now gets 14.2% of all US TV viewing, Netflix gets 7.8%.
Here are 5 ways to build yours:
1. Use Shorts Series
YouTube’s new feature groups your Shorts into seasons and episodes with a “Watch Series” button.
2. Turn your long-form into a playlist with a clear order
Episode 1 should make sense to someone who’s never seen your channel.
3. Point your end screen at the next episode
1 end screen and 1 next step will increase the chances of a repeat viewer.
4. Keep episode numbers out of the title
TubeAI’s data shows titles with “Ep. #” end up at 0.957x the channel average over time.
Put the series name in the thumbnail and the playlist instead.
5. Design every thumbnail for a TV
YouTube now allows 50MB thumbnails for 4K screens.
Make sure you're creating 4K thumbnails which look clear on the big screen.
Your channel is now competing for the same living room as Netflix.
Make your next video a series people can binge.

Don’t have time to make YouTube videos?
Use the green screen in Shorts.
Put a headline, chart or tweet behind you and give your take on it.
It takes 30 seconds and is one of the most authentic ways to make content.
A real person reacting with an opinion is the format does very well.
You can film one every time news drops in your niche.
MrBeast is putting fewer people in his videos and getting more views.
I used TubeAI to compare his last 3 videos with the rest of his channel.
His older videos had 100 contestants, his latest ones have 4, or just 1 couple.
The viewer gets to know each person more.
His grocery store video with 4 contestants has 278.1M views.
That’s 2.4x his channel average and the best of his last 15 uploads.
He also changed 3 more things:
1. A new rule or character every 10-14 minutes
2. A scoreboard on screen the whole video, like pounds lost or prize money left
3. Sponsors built into the challenge, like Function Health tracking the couple’s health
The biggest YouTube creator is betting on viewers caring about the people in his videos.
