While many important social and political forces shaped Malcolm’s thinking, his journey to Orthodox Islam, particularly the diversity of an embodied Islam, touched the core of his being. It freed him to think more broadly within a greater international and humanitarian context.
My essay on Malcolm X and Islam was one of the most enriching journeys for me and is now available on Amazon. It draws from a talk I delivered at a civil rights conference in 2014, as well as an article I published in The Islamic Monthly in 2017 amazon.com/dp/B0GNDP9KVJ/ref…

Amazing folks in Lexington, Mississippi who took time out of their day to come here my book talk. They shared so much from their own history and thought provoking questions and insights about Pinchback, his roots here in Holmes County, MS, and his political career. Inspiring!

Making new friends on this book tour journey. Such amazing people in Macon, GA and our time together was perfect. In Macon, I did two book talks last week. The questions and insights and personal/local histories these folks shared enriched our discussions so much.
