The first one, the Runes Protocol was in development by @rodarmor (creator of the Ordinals Protocol). The main purpose was to create the best fungible tokens protocol for Bitcoin, thinking on the difficulties that the BRC-20 standard was having using the Ordinals Protocol and the effect it was creating for the Protocol and Bitcoin. For that, @PupsToken distributed 10,778 Pups Inscriptions (pre-Runes) that upon halving would give an allocation of $PUPS (Runes) to the holders (burn mechanism). The decision was an immediate success in price terms, as all the Puppets community, and not only O.P.I.U.M, were going to benefit from the token. >The hype Prior to the launch of the Runes Protocol, the @PupsToken team enabled a bridge to SOL of the BRC-20 tokens (with the ability to bridge back to Bitcoin). This decision afterwards allowed for the exponential price increase of $PUPS during the peak of memecoins on March and April, 2024, making it the most valuable pre-Runes token. >The etching of the $PUPS rune and the prophecy Upon the launch of the Runes Protocol, the @PupsToken team secured the PUPS•WORLD•PEACE ticker, and a very significant Rune number (13).
