Foreigners always ask the exact same question about Finnish saunas.
Do people actually have, you know, intimacy in there?
You are definitely not the first person to wonder.
People picture romantic dim lighting and soft steam.
What they forget is wooden splinters, zero oxygen after ten minutes, and the overwhelming desire to jump into freezing snow instead.
Most modern apartment saunas use electric stoves.
Finns will still tell you a wood-fired sauna is better.
Don't start the debate.
Sauna truly is everywhere in Finland๐คญ๐ซ๐ฎ
Replying to @Ninainsauna
I just saw a documentation about reindeer and the sami people and they even had a Sauna in the slaughterhouse.
So yeah, not surprised at all, Sauna is really everywhere in Finnland ^^
In Finnish the ancient word โlรถylyโ was historically connected with breath, spirit, and the life force.
