Today, we publish this open letter from over 100 fellow @Google employees, asking @SFPride to remove the company until real improvements to LGBTQ+ protections are made on @YouTube

I wonder how YouTubers like @gaywonk or @PupAmp feel about this. I am pretty sure I can guess how @NoPrideForGoog @EthicalGooglers feel. I feel like this is a slap in the face and I'm pretty disappointed in @SFAIDSFound right now

Their unmatched support and advocacy for the LGBTQ+ community have pushed the needle closer to achieving health justice.
It's been almost 2 years since @gaywonk first went public about the ongoing abuse and bigotry he suffers from Crowder, and YouTube has made several changes that let them say nice sounding things, but done nothing to actually, meaningfully improve.

It's not just funding, @selenagomez, it's radicalizing and recruiting, it's discrimination and harassment, and it happens every day on @YouTube.
I know you have been invested in this a long time but in your recent AP interview you said something we couldn't agree with more!
I love @YouTube and put a music video on there the other day... how can this be happening? I don’t want my fans or anyone to be funding hate or violence.
“It’s beating around the bush and saying what people want to hear,” Gomez said about her interactions with Sandberg and Google, among others. “I think at this point we’ve all learned that words don’t match up unless the action is going to happen.”

They say it's nice to have some stability in your life but I don't think this is what they had in mind.
Incredible that, given there was an insurrection on Tuesday, that @YouTube still has the videos up from its organizer.

Our statement on yesterday's coup attempt at the Capitol.
Social media companies, including YouTube, an Alphabet product, bear tremendous responsibility for the growing fascist movement in the US.
We have organized against this before & we stand ready to do so again—as a union.

Never forget this. And as me and hundreds of fellow Google workers said quite loudly a year and a half ago, never forget the role YouTube has played in this. And for what, money? Fuck the fascists and fuck the capitalist robber barons who looked at them and saw nothing but profit

Read the latest from the unparalleled @beccalew. It's not just LGBTQ+ persons and communities YouTube is hurting with its ongoing failures to act. We stand in solidarity with the Muslim community and all communities targeted by hate and radicalization on YouTube and everywhere.
I wrote a brief reflection on the Christchurch inquiry report and how YouTube will keep radicalizing white supremacists unless it explicitly commits to protecting Muslim communities.

The NLRB has begun confirming what we’ve said all along:
“Google violated US labor laws by spying on workers who were organizing employee protests, then firing two of them, according to a complaint to be filed by the National Labor Relations Board today.

The more things don't change, the more they stay the same. Colonialism and homophobia in one?!?!? Cool.
Crowder says “faggots started liberalism” while mocking Native Americans in a promo for his YouTube show.
@YouTube welcomed Crowder back into its Partner Program this year, meaning they pay him directly.
YouTube profits off of hate speech, and does not enforce its policies.

.@facebook gets the most flak, but @YouTube is more dangerous in many ways.
Their algorithm is a radicalization engine and they do the very minimum when it comes to enforcing their rules.
Many videos with false claims about voter fraud and a "stolen" election are still up on YouTube.
A spokesperson said such baseless allegations do not break the company's rules.

Crowder videos full of transphobia, homophobia, racism, and targeted harassment? Not a violation of policy.
@RealSexyCyborg touring a factory, showing women in STEM roles, but her t-shirt is low cut? Restricted, demonetized. Manual review affirmed.
Replying to @RealSexyCyborg
Hey @SusanWojcicki how does it feel to be a traitor to your gender and the single largest obstacle to portraying a wide variety of women in STEM through channels where young women can see them? Feel good? Nice thick bed of money you of there stabbing us all in the back?
A theory on the difference xitter.gq/RealSexyCyborg/status/…

You know if it was a male YouTuber with PED assisted arms and a tank top touring that factory there would be ZERO issue with that video. But "sexual" means "straight men like it" and I'm blamed for that😓
FFS, I really tried on that one. Why bother? Doesn't matter what I do😞

Over 4 million views on a stream peddling absolute garbage about voter fraud.
YouTube has become one of the largest sources of US election misinformation.
When @YouTube says they care about fairness, this is what they mean: selling Trump the masthead for the run up to the election in an early auction the DNC wasn't permitted to be a part of.
Starting Sunday and until the polls close, YouTube’s homepage will belong to President Trump. How that became the case is a source of tension between Democrats and the company w @ceciliakang @tiffkhsu nytimes.com/live/2020/10/31/…
