Institutional custody options keep expanding. That is useful, but it is not the same thing as a complete control environment. Once assets move across custodians, wallets, exchanges, funds, and treasury systems, the hard question becomes whether finance can reconcile the activity into one defensible record. Custody solves safekeeping. Reporting still has to solve evidence. cryptoinfrastructure.io/what…

An on-chain options position has a lifecycle, not a single transaction: premium paid, a mark while open, then expiry or exercise. Each stage needs to tie back to wallet activity and venue records. This week's example: 800 BTC calls, $90K strike, Nov 6 expiry on Derive. NODE40 supports options natively. itechguides.com/a-68-million…

Accounting firms: before reviewing a client's 1099-DA, ask for their wallet and exchange list, including closed accounts. Make that an intake question, not a follow-up after reconciliation stalls.

Most crypto teams can tell you what they hold today. Fewer can show what they paid for it, when, and under which method, five years on. IRS guidance still expects every transaction to be reported. A Deloitte tax leader said this week that people with older or unresolved transactions may need help proving basis years later. That proof cannot be rebuilt at filing time. It has to be captured when the transaction happens: - acquisition date and USD value - the pricing source used - the wallet or venue it came from - the cost basis method applied For treasuries, validators and funds, a dated record created at the time of the event is what holds up in an audit. A reconstruction done later is an estimate. en.coin-turk.com/deloittes-r…

For Solana validator operators: SOL traded between roughly $60 and $150 this year, so the USD value of commission and staking rewards depends on the date each one is recognized. A defensible monthly close needs a dated reward ledger, not an end-of-month balance and an average price. nerdwallet.com/investing/lea…

A covered call that gets assigned is a disposal, not just a premium event. NODE40 supports options natively. More venues now offer calls and puts on BTC, ETH and SOL. That means more treasuries will see coins leave the balance sheet at strike, on a date the venue decides. Three records finance needs for each assignment: 1. Which lot was delivered, and its cost basis 2. Premium received, booked separately from the gain or loss on the coins 3. The venue confirmation that matches the wallet movement If the lot is chosen after the fact, the gain is a judgment call. Set the lot selection rule before the first contract is written.

Fund accountants and administrators: the Cryptex S-1 filed Oct 23 updates its staking framework alongside custody disclosures. Wherever staking is in scope, the open operating question is reward attribution by asset and period, reconciled to custody records and reproducible at audit. coingape.com/cryptex-files-s…

For treasury controllers holding USDC: until GAAP and IFRS treat stablecoins as cash equivalents, your classification memo is only as strong as the evidence behind it. That means reconciled balances, a complete transaction history, and outputs the auditor can reproduce without asking you to rebuild them. stablecoininsider.org/stable…

Treasury companies running covered calls need premium, strike, expiry and assignment captured as separate records tied to the underlying lots. With a reported $11B of bitcoin options expiring, that link is what the close and the auditor will ask for. ethnews.com/bitcoin-faces-11…

For finance teams paying vendors in stablecoins, the transfer is the short step. The invoice approval trail, the paying wallet and the ledger entry still have to reconcile, and per StablecoinInsider few tools connect all three today. stablecoininsider.org/best-a…

Controllers holding stablecoins in treasury: FASB is reportedly considering cash equivalent treatment for certain stablecoins. Classification at each period end will rest on a wallet-level and issuer-level transaction history. Building that subledger now is easier than rebuilding it during close week. chaincatcher.com/en/article/…

Accounting firms: test your 1099-DA review on one sale. Can another reviewer trace the proceeds to the transaction without asking the preparer? If not, fix the workpaper before scaling the process. irs.gov/forms-pubs/about-for…

Stablecoins moving into corporate and agentic payment workflows will create a records problem before most teams call it one. Every payment rail still needs transaction purpose, counterparty context, wallet attribution, fees, and accounting treatment that survive review. Faster settlement does not reduce the need for a defensible ledger. It raises the cost of not having one. coinpedia.org/news/genius-ac…

Treasury controllers: options on SOL, ETH, and BTC are now available through Blockchain.com for eligible users. Any program that buys or writes them adds premium, expiry, and assignment events that must tie back to specific lots. Decide which lot is delivered on assignment before the first contract is written. johnlothiannews.com/blockcha…

For teams staking SOL, whether through their own validator or a third party, a lower issuance rate changes the reward line finance reconciles each month. Preliminary implementation is reported for this month and full activation for the first half of 2027. Reward attribution by epoch and wallet is what lets the month-over-month change be explained in review. coinmarketcap.com/cmc-ai/sol…

Options on SOL are now live on Blockchain.com for eligible users. For a treasury that writes covered calls, each contract creates three entries finance has to own: premium received, expiry, and assignment. Assignment is where records break. If delivery is not pinned to a specific acquisition lot, realized gain and remaining basis are both guesses. Set the lot election in policy first, then let the desk trade.

Two SOL items are in the news this month: a reported issuance reduction (preliminary now, full activation expected in the first half of 2027) and new options on SOL and six other assets at Blockchain.com. If your treasury touches either, the close checklist gets two new lines: 1. Staking rewards tagged by epoch, wallet, and value at receipt, so the income change is explainable. 2. Any option premium, expiry, or assignment tied to a named lot before the contract is written. Neither needs a new system. Both need an owner.
