November 3 is Godzilla Day (marking the anniversary of the original 1954 film’s release) And starting today, at Hibiya Station, the train departure chime has been permanently changed to this:

📝 無料署名 steun.zeehondencentrum.nl/re… ❤️ 寄付 gofundme.com/f/red-zeehonden… 署名や拡散だけでも大きな力になります!🦭🙏 @Zeehondencreche #アザラシ幼稚園 #拡散希望

More hosting More miso cod And a good excuse to finish my neri shichimi
When I host A Certain Someone, she always expects my miso-marinated cod the first night, and I'm happy to oblige.

Having older Gen-X siblings with good music taste and skilled in the Mix CD Arts is a blessing. This CD was tame compared to the elaborate mix CD boxsets and one-upsmanship my brother had with his friends during xmas gift exchanges in the 90s. The Non-Sequitur Theatre was not an actual live event venue but rather one of the many imaginative names my brother came up with for his myriad residences in New England.
People genuinely have parents that have good music taste that shit is a complete foreign concept to me

I like my rice silos. A gift from Iris Ohyama/Iris Foods for a recent rice photoshoot. My palate isn't refined enough to be a prefectural rice connoisseur, but maybe someday.

I like hanging out with friends for lunch/dinner on my birthday but waiting until after we split & paid the bill to tell them it's my birthday.
Pet peeve of mine is adults that make a very big deal about their birthdays & expect that their friends are obligated to participate

I like surprise drink orders from Sofi. (Incidentally, the lobby of the hotel where I had my 2nd birthday.)
A Shōwa era birthday (and gosh bless my mom's handwriting). She says she bought the cake from the hotel bakery Gargantua, which is still in operation.

A chip on your shoulder can build an extraordinary life. So can keeping score. Many high achievers are powered by it- every slight remembered, every room that underestimated them, every person who said no preserved like a receipt. It works. Resentment is an incredibly efficient fuel. It gets you out of bed early, keeps you working after everyone else has gone home, turns humiliation into discipline and doubt into output. For a while, the scoreboard is useful because it gives pain something to do. But if you live by the score long enough, eventually even winning begins to feel like evidence for a case no one is still trying. You reach the rooms you once begged to enter and find yourself scanning for who noticed. You earn enough, build enough, prove enough and still some younger version of you is standing in the doorway asking whether 'everyone' finally regret doubting them. At the end of a life, I imagine the saddest thing would not be discovering that the chip made you successful. It would be realizing it made you so busy proving you were worth something that you forgot to notice when your life had already become worth living.

A tip for any tourists travelling to Japan: If the English text is more prominent than the Japanese text you're being lured into a trap. Run.
