It's also just a staple of the right wing playbook these days to just deny you lost any election that you weren't expected to lose going in
I think Hyde-Smith's refusal to concede at this point has much more to do with the specific humiliation of Republicans losing a Senate seat in Mississippi to a black Democrat than it does to her belief she might pull off a come from behind victory.

The amount of pro-establishment democrat revisionism I've been seeing over the past 24 hours almost feels like a psy-op. Chuck Schumer endorsed two (2) candidates: One, Janet Mills, lost that Maine primary you point out. The other, Haley Stevens, lost and endorsed a republican.
Schumer flipped literally every seat that was actually difficult. Leftists flipped...Maine, a blue state, in the biggest blue wave of my lifetime. Schumer won Mississippi, Iowa, and probably Alaska. Leftists won zero elections that anyone with a pulse and a D next to their name wouldn't have taken down

Chuck Schumer is uniting America...against him. Call the switch board at the Senate and let them know what you think. (202) 224-3121

Tbf the leaders of the majority party are always the most unpopular figures but yes get schumer and jeffries outta there
i do think the most unpopular figures in the democratic party should not be the faces of the party i think this is reasonable

I doubt they will do that
What even is Flavio Bolsonaro's plan if a Dem becomes president 2 years from now and revokes his asylum

It's gonna be somebody trump hand picks and you are kidding yourself if you think that won't happen. It'll be like an ideological + aesthetic equivalent to Joe Kent without the disloyalty component
who the fuck are Republicans going to nominate in 2028? Rubio was my sleeper bet but he's donezo. is it really DeSantis's turn?

Would love to be wrong but highly doubt any of this lasts. Nobody else has stepped forward and votes for majority leader are private so if it gets close it would be easy for a few of these folks to get bought to the other side and just lie about it
At least seven incoming Democratic freshmen have publicly suggested – or said outright – they will not commit to supporting Schumer in next month’s leadership vote:

Also being majority leader is political suicide at least in terms of aspirations, it's not a popularly elected position so there's way less incentive for the public to defend you. If something goes wrong the captain pretty much has to go down w/ the ship

LBJ is the only majority leader who ever became president and I think Dole is the only other one who ever got the nom. Someone like Van Hollen isn't risking nuking his presidential hopes for that

I'm sure this woman is going to blow everybody away as a presidential candidate
AOC said she's backing Jeffries for Speaker.

Doing Mamdani type appeasement for a district where she regularly wins 80% of the vote as is, she is straight up not a good politician and if progressives think she is going to save the party in 2028 they are badly mistaken

There's a word missing from the foreign policy section hmmmm
I agree, every national Democrat should pivot themselves to Talarico’s positions immediately.

I think the bigger issue (which this is part and parcel of) is she has a very poor understanding of how she comes off and thinks when she says diff things to diff audiences she is being smart and playing to the crowd when it just makes her look unconfident + like a flip-flopper
I don’t have confidence in AOC running for president like some of you do because she has not meaningfully improved her public speaking abilities since 2018. It’s just awkward and fumbling like she’s overthinking every word. Not sure she can overcome that in such a high stakes election.

That said Dems could run anybody in 2028 and they'd win but AOC would lose reelection to Nick Fuentes

Commiechusetts yessir baby
A map of the best states to live in. How does your state rank?
53
Because jeffries is deliberately framing it as "getting even" and not "accountability" which yes a majority of Americans want. Like even if we pretend they don't care about the corruption they absolutely want people covering up the epstein files to go to jail. No brainer
how is either of these things wrong?

He's probably just going to focus on pushing pork barrel stuff/general stuff for his voter base because that's the only way he gets reelected. Lot of agricultural bills most likely. Probs will vote the right way on AIPAC and iran war but unlikely to go hard on ICE or funding cuts
The entire reason he ran for this seat was to get back at Cindy Hyde-Smith for blocking his appointment to a judgeship because he was pro-trans. Make of that what you will

If you were ranking the 9 flips on progressivism he's probably directly in the middle. Not a Fetterman but he's from Mississippi so he's got pretty bad views when it comes to law enforcement and the border
