Japanese and American accounts are fighting about piracy, and there's such a deep cultural divide that's just not gonna be overcome here
Can you even imagine telling a group of Americans "This thing you want isn't available, you should probably just give up forever" lmao
The Japanese value their art so little that they’d rather it be essentially shelved forever than let it be experienced by more people even through illegitimate means. This is such a servile and pathetic attitude.

This is one of the most important themes in One Piece. It’s not enough to simply save people from an oppressive system. The existence of that system is an affront in and of itself and true justice can only be achieved by fully replacing it. Luffy has always known this👇🏾
This might be just the most retarded example of a hivemind I’ve ever seen. “Spend money to come to our country (That is growing more xenophobic btw) so that you could spend more money on media in a language you don’t speak, because our companies are just too lazy to export them.
Replying to @MIKITO_777
Don’t worry, I pirate no matter the country, Japan is not the exception. And I I like what I pirate, I will spend money on it legally. Simple. If Japanese companies wont export it then I will pirate it and never give money. Simple.

• “DON’T USE ANIME TO JUSTIFY YOUR CRIMINAL ACTS!”
• “Now Days, Celestial Dragons Are Using The One Piece Flag!”
• “Don’t Defame Our Country & Anime!”
• “They Are Not REAL ANIME FANS, They Dont Even Watch Anime. they are people using ANIME FOR SOCIAL MEDIA FAME!”

One Piece is inherently political, so it's hardly surprising that the Straw Hat Jolly Roger has become a symbol for movements across the world.
The few who commit violence should be held accountable, but their actions don't invalidate these movements' causes. Otherwise, you could use the same logic to discredit the American Civil Rights Movement because of violence committed by some participants.
You can disagree with how the flag is used without pretending that using One Piece for political expression contradicts what the series stands for.
Lastly, both you and the person you're replying to are treating Japanese fans as a monolith, as if they all share the same opinions.

But in all seriousness, the reaction from Japanese One Piece fans to people using the Straw Hat Jolly Roger in protests has been genuinely pissing me off. So many of them are more concerned about people bringing One Piece into real-life politics, calling it dangerous rhetoric and worrying that the series could get banned in certain countries, than they are about WHY people are even using it in the first place.
And I think this perfectly highlights the disconnect between Japanese fans and international fans. For some of them, One Piece is a manga they love and want to protect from controversy. For a lot of us, its themes of oppression, corruption, government tyranny and the fight for freedom hit a little closer to home. Some of us have lived through these things. Some of us have watched our families and loved ones suffer and die because of corrupt governments and injustice.
They can afford to treat these themes as fiction because they don’t necessarily have to relate them to their own reality. But when people who have experienced these things firsthand see the Straw Hat flag as a symbol of resistance and freedom, why is they’re first reaction to police how other fans use it rather than understand why it resonates with them in the first place?
And that’s what bothers me. Instead of trying to understand why people from completely different backgrounds see themselves in this story, they’re dismissing it as dangerous political rhetoric that might get one piece banned in these countries
