Protip -- don't use synthetic "art" to illustrate your articles and ESPECIALLY don't do so if you're prompting it to depict a scene from a culture (or like here cultures!) you don't belong to. This is some epic self-beclowning. (h/t @jeffadoctor who found this atrocity.)
ASR projects are now underway by Native Hawaiians and the Mohawk people in southeastern Canada following efforts to preserve te reo a Polynesian language. buff.ly/48KQSGC

@NotMyRobots

We might need to replace the usual #Robot image utilized to illustrate the amazing wonders of #AI with something like this. @NotMyRobots

And the nonsense robo images to portray AI continues - this today by @CIPR_Global, PR's Charter PR body, reguarly calling for ethical PR which doesn't misinform or disinform adding to the communication issue AI has. @NotMyRobots #AI #PR #AIinPR
AI continues to have a communication issue, which impacts understanding and skews discourse. This is frustrating as @BBCRD has even published a @ImagesofAI image guide to stop the nonsense robo images.

Replying to @NotMyRobots
@NotMyRobots has the recent hype about AGI meant that pictures of robots now look like this - "artificial intelligent robots" have dispensed with the white plastic now naturally evolved to bald idealised Caucasians? (see caption). Wondered what your thoughts were...

Great study by @elizabethminor3 @article36 on much-needed new legally binding rules to govern #autonomousweapons - but why include the humanoid killer robot picture to accompany it @fesnewyork @NotMyRobots - not a helpful imagery to ground the debate
Emerging military technologies like lethal #autonomous #weapons are dangerously under-regulated. In a new study, @elizabethminor3 from @Article36 explores ways to move toward much-needed international legal standards. #LAWS @FESnewsbrief @BanKillerRobots bit.ly/3jIYwx6

– at Mainz, Germany

Some great sounding papers, but was there a requirement to use an #AICreationMeme in each one? :)

If news media turn towards using text-to-image tools for illustrations, we risk a feedback loop where AI tools are used to generate misleading images of AI that feed into the hype—and are used as training data for future models.

This thread shows how not only are stock images of AI misleading, their “snake oil” tropes are perpetuated (and it seems amplified) by AI image generation tools…
It is well known that image generation tools encode stereotypes about people. But do these models also perpetuate stereotypes about AI? We ran the experiment so you don't have to—over 90% of images of AI created using Stable Diffusion show humanoid robots. aisnakeoil.substack.com/p/ge…

Why the speculative fantasy and scaremongering @stephenfry when there so many irresponsible ways that HUMANS are already using AI. It’s a natural intelligence problem @Boring_AI
