They have done an excellent job making the assembly simpler and more producible. So, there is no need to exaggerate this by showing a partially assembled engine without controllers, fluid management, or TVC systems, then comparing it to fully assembled engines that do.
CEO Dave Limp today unveiled GS3, a third stage that significantly expands New Glenn’s ability to deliver high-energy and deep-space missions, and Northstar, a new booster engine. Read more --> blueorigin.com/news
Call me back when it’s fully assembled with controllers, fluid management, and TVC.
BLUE ORIGIN - NORTHSTAR ENGINE:
- New liquid oxygen / liquified natural gas (LOX/LNG) first stage booster engine.
- Produces 715,000lbs of thrust.
- 65% of the engine produced through additive manufacturing.
- Reduces mass by 30% compared to BE-4
- Reduces parts count by 50% compared to BE-4

For the love of god, can someone please make a better interpolation? 😭 everyone uses this shitty un-normalized un-smoothed AI one from 3 years ago

We need to throw Enceladus at Mars. Mars gets water, increased tectonic activity and maybe a magnetic dynamo
🚨 BREAKING: Introducing X-70 Fractal, @NASA's newest experimental aircraft!
This crewed, modular aircraft will allow the agency to rapidly swap out internal & external payloads to help keep pushing the frontiers of aviation technology! @nasaadmin

bro doing math?? space based data centers don't work because I don't want them to, stop doing this math thingy

Using the Stefan–Boltzmann law:
A = (Q+Qₑ)/(ε×σ)×(Tₛ⁴-Tₑ⁴)
By plugging in some estimates for each value:
Area = (150×10³ + 50×10³) / (0.95 * 5.67×10⁻⁸) × (343.15 - 2.7⁴)) = 267.786 m²
Divide by 2 for the area of one radiator:
133.893 m²
If you actually calculate it, the area required to radiate the ALL of the 150kW of energy supplied by the solar panels is very close to the 110 m² radiators in SpaceX's design.
They probably have more effective heat pumps or run the chips at a higher temperature, allowing them to reach a smaller radiator area. Not to mention, other parts of the satellite will also radiate heat away.
