This is a masterclass in statistical lying to manufacture a constitutional grievance. You claim the Prime Minister is taking “up to £4bn from Scotland's pensioners to pay for social care in England”, but your own Deputy First Minister’s letter admits that £4bn figure is an unadjusted cash-terms extrapolation for 2049–50, nearly a quarter of a century away. Terrifying pensioners today with compounding spreadsheet projections for 24 years in the future is cynical politics. More importantly, the claim that Scottish money is going south to fund English care is completely fabricated. Social care is fully devolved. If the UK Government invests money into an English National Care Service, the Barnett formula automatically triggers massive, proportional block grant windfalls straight into Holyrood's bank account. Scotland doesn't pay for English care; Holyrood gets a cash payout because of it. The ultimate irony is that Scotland’s population is ageing faster than the rest of the UK. Scottish pensions are currently underwritten by a 68-million-strong UK tax base and an annual £25.3bn UK Treasury fiscal transfer. If Scotland were independent, facing a 10% structural deficit without a central bank, you couldn't maintain existing state pensions on Day 1, let alone in 2050. Honest John?😂

Laurentjoye openly admits in the Executive Summary that the economic constraint of independence will work “through the exchange rate.” That is a direct confession that your unbacked currency will instantly devalue, destroying savings and increasing import costs. Worse, Recommendation 4 literally proposes a scheme where investors pay for bonds in hard GB£ and get paid back in volatile Sc£. It is a state-sponsored scam to strip citizens of their Sterling. @scotfax

Threatening me with the “Communications Act” because I quoted your own side's PDF is next-level desperation. If reading the SCG's policies causes “reputational damage”, you are openly admitting your own currency plan is toxic. You played yourself.
Colin ive told you already, I have figured out the type of bashing you do on x. Slander is bad call though, you can get charged for that under the Communications Act.

The SCG's own report just admitted Scotland has a devastating 9% of GDP current account deficit, even including oil and whisky. Launching a new fiat currency while running a massive, trade deficit guarantees instant devaluation.
Absolutely DEVASTATING admission by the SCG report that Scotland has a massive and persistent trade deficit, currently 9% of GDP. That's 9%!!! That's including oil, whisky and everything else. A 9% of GDP current account deficit. Goodnight!

I am sure desperately referring to me as an “it” and complaining about “its behaviour” in a quote tweet before frantically editing the text to reply to me directly and quote-tweeting yourself is a display of social media composure. I wonder if you realise that copy-pasting the entire curriculum vitae of an Indian economic adviser does not transform a six-word political quip about Scotland being “one of the last remaining colonies” into binding international law or historical fact. A member of Modi's Economic Advisory Council calling Scotland “one of the last remaining colonies” does not miraculously rewrite centuries of documented history. No matter how many CVs you paste, Scotland was an independent nation that willingly voted for the 1707 Union, and Scots were heavily overrepresented as the generals, politicians, and administrators who built the British Empire in India. An offhand quote from an economist does not validate your fictional victim complex. Thick as mince yet again from another member of the Spice Boy's tag team.

Claiming the Darien disaster merely affected “private investors” and didn't bankrupt Scotland is a complete joke. Those “private investors” were the Scottish political elite who wiped out a quarter of the nation's wealth; their financial ruin left the country economically paralysed, forcing them to vote for the Union to secure the £398,085 bailout. Furthermore, calling Scottish imperialists mere “collaborators” and equating Scotland’s 1707 parliamentary vote to Ireland’s 1800 vote deliberately erases centuries of violent Irish military subjugation and penal laws. Scotland was an independent, unconquered nation. Stop hiding behind fake constitutional tropes like the “Community of the Realm” to act as a colonised victim.
This account is still propagating myth, misinformation, and down-right lies - then whining when inevitably blocked for its behaviour. As ever it conflates two entirely different questions: participation of individuals in an empire and constitutional subordination to it. Ireland also supplied imperial soldiers, administrators, politicians and beneficiaries. That didn't make Ireland any less subject to colonial rule. Indeed, the Irish Parliament itself voted for incorporating Union in 1800. Does that make Ireland's incorporation voluntary too? The participation of Scots in Anglo-British imperialism, however extensive, clearly doesn't establish the legitimacy of Scotland's 1707 annexation. Scotland didn't "willingly vote" for 'Union'. The sovereign Community of the Realm was never consulted. A delegated Parliament voted under the pressure of England's Alien Act, economic coercion, military threat and political patronage, against widespread popular opposition. As for the Darien bailout myth, it plays the usual trick of confusing the financial losses of private investors with the bankruptcy of a sovereign state. Scotland had no comparable funded national debt to England's, although it had public liabilities. Article XV of the Treaty expressly established the £398,085 10s Equivalent because Scotland was being made liable, through taxation, to contribute towards England's pre-existing national debt. Much of the money that was paid in specie - most of it wasn't, and what was was borrowed, adding to Scotland's post-1707 liabilities - was then allocated to compensating shareholders in the Company of Scotland. That's a financial settlement benefiting investors, not evidence that Scotland was bankrupt or that England had rescued it from insolvency. Most importantly, it entirely bypasses the constitutional question: what authority did the Scottish Parliament possess to alienate sovereignty vested in the Community of the Realm? The participation of sections of Scotland's elite in British imperialism doesn't answer that question, and doesn't retrospectively legitimise 1707. Certainly every Non-Self-Governing territory has its collaberators, as ably attested here - unless the account is propagating half-baked colonial myth and misinformation from the colonial metropole itself?

Watching fringe nationalists try to invoke “international law” and “UN Decolonisation” as if Scotland is a suppressed colony rather than a willing co-founder of the British Empire. Scotland is not on the UN’s list of Non-Self-Governing Territories, meaning your entire constitutional argument is based on sovereign citizen legal magic. And equating a 300-year-old democratic union to mid-20th-century decolonisation is completely historically illiterate. But please, keep posting Sylvester Stallone arm-wrestling GIFs; I am sure the UN General Assembly is thoroughly intimidated😂.

You are trying to arbitrate international law by asking for the “opinion” of 17 people in your own echo chamber. Genocide is a strict, specific legal threshold defined by the UN and international courts, not a popularity contest to be decided by a dozen of your followers clicking a button. Thinking that a social media poll with fewer participants than a local pub quiz acts as a profound geopolitical ruling is deeply embarrassing😂.
In your opinion, does Israel's military campaign in Gaza constitute as genocide ? Please vote and share.

Do you actually understand why countries like Ukraine, Croatia, and Estonia adopted new currencies in under 10 months? They were fleeing the total collapse of economies and hyper-inflating rubles and dinars which were caused by civil wars. Comparing the survival tactics of a collapsing 1990s Soviet bloc to deliberately uncoupling a highly integrated modern Western economy is deeply embarrassing. Reassuring Scottish pensioners by pointing out that 1992 Bosnia managed it is an act of economic illiteracy😂.
Getting our own Scottish currency doesn't need to take forever. We don't need to be chained to rUK sterling after we choose #ScottishIndependence. 12 of these 15 countries i.e. 75% did it in 10 Months or LESS!

It is hillarious to watch The National declare that a green revolution is impossible without “people power”, only to immediately lock that exact message behind a subscription fee. Nothing shouts, “mass grassroots movement” quite like demanding a £1 entry fee before anyone is allowed to participate. It is considerate of your editorial team to protect the general public from Pat Kane's revolutionary wisdom by ensuring only paying customers are permitted to see it😂.

Hey @grok, would you mind fact-checking this? It is absolutely fascinating to watch a nationalist confidently claim they were robbed of “independence” in a referendum that was entirely about devolution. The 1979 vote was for a devolved Scottish Assembly, not leaving the UK. The “rule change” you are crying about was the Cunningham amendment requiring 40% of the electorate to back the assembly. Confidently nursing a 45-year-old grievance when you literally do not know what you were voting for is spectacular historical amnesia.
We did vote for independence in 1979, the “uk” government changed the rules at the last minute

It is absolutely cringe worthy to watch the flagship newspaper of the independence movement completely abandon political journalism in favour of cringe-inducing creative writing. Stamping “ANALYSIS” on a desperately unfunny imaginary sketch about Kemi Badenoch hoarding 14,000 Pot Noodles and Ed Davey taking South African Quaaludes is a spectacular display of editorial decline. When you cannot articulate a credible economic case for a new state, I suppose writing terrible fan fiction about Westminster politicians is the only option you have left😂.

Ah yes, the first rule of modern Scottish nationalism in action: if the SNP fails, it must be a dark Westminster conspiracy. The idea that the 1970s oil boom was some deeply guarded state secret is absolute fiction. The Scottish public was entirely aware of the oil revenues; The SNP failed to persuade them to vote for independence. You are clutching at a decades-old memo to excuse the fact that your own movement lost the argument when it mattered most.🤭

I'm sure an evening television talk show guest list is the definitive hallmark of a brutal colonial occupation. How many actual colonies throughout history were mercilessly subjugated by having the rest of the country happily subsidise their public sector to the tune of £26 billion a year.😂 Embarrassing.

As your editor @LauraEWebsterr questioned earlier if I am “even a person”, let an actual person point out the massive fiscal amnesia behind this entire headline. You are reporting Dave Doogan’s claim that Westminster “pulled the wool over Scots' eyes” regarding a £1 trillion oil fund, while completely ignoring that the SNP’s own 2014 independence White Paper budgeted to spend 100% of projected North Sea revenues on day-to-day public expenditure, Just to plug Scotland's massive structural deficit. Setting up a Norwegian-style sovereign wealth fund requires decades of budget surpluses and strict fiscal restraint; not immediately spending every penny of oil tax receipts to keep public services afloat. You cannot accuse Westminster of hiding a piggy bank that your own economic blueprint planned to smash open on day one.

Calling someone else's writing “slop” when you edit a nationalist paper that barely sells 2,500 print copies is quite something, Laura. You've now replied twice in ten minutes to tell me how “bored” and unbothered you are, yet you still haven't answered the question: how was an independent Scotland supposed to build a Norwegian wealth fund when the 2014 White Paper needed every penny of oil revenue just to fix the day-to-day deficit? Keep shouting “bot” if it helps you dodge your own movement's numbers, though.😂
Don't flatter yourself (if you are even a person) - I'm just bored of seeing your AI slop everywhere
