Jonathan Reynolds mocks the nation, and tries not to laugh, knowing he is taking the piss with 1p off gherkins and stares down, unable to look up so people see him laughing, which he did to camera on other TV channels earlier.

The Courts and Tribunals Bill goes before peers in the House of Lords today, and the Prime Minister is expected to face a rebellion from Labour peers. Good. This Government, like Sir Keir Starmer’s, is pressing ahead with plans to curtail our right to a jury trial. It is a sinister, authoritarian assault on our criminal justice system and English liberty — particularly on free speech. FSU research has shown that people charged with speech offences are almost twice as likely to be found not guilty in a Crown Court with a jury than in a magistrates’ court without one. Put simply, more people could be banged up for exercising their right to free speech.

I don’t often get pleasure from a company going bust but will make an exception for the lawyers Thomson Heath Jenkins who represented Prince Harry, Elton John, Baroness Lawrence etc in their failed claims for blagging and hacking against the Daily Mail. The lawyers thought they would make a fortune so went all in on no win, no fee. But the judge threw out the claim, basically saying it was all bollocks. The judgment meant there were no fees to collect and the 17-year business went pop. Cry me a river.

My dear Stephen, How lovely to see you marking the sixtieth. One of the darkest days in our history, etched in the memory of the nation, a community of such strength. All true. And all of it happening to somebody else. Here is the part your tribute left in the drawer. The tribunal found the Coal Board wholly to blame and said the disaster "could and should have been prevented". The Coal Board then demanded £250,000 from the disaster fund to clear the tip that killed them. The fund, raised by public donation for the families, handed over £150,000. Your party's government applied the pressure, in secret. George Thomas objected, then folded, and leaned on the trustees until they folded too. The Charity Commission sat on its hands. Nobody was prosecuted. It took thirty years to give it back. In July 1997 Ron Davies, your party's first Welsh Secretary of that spell, returned the £150,000 without interest and without inflation, and conceded the demand should never have been made. So yes. Remembering is lovely. Your lot billed the bereaved for clearing the mine's own tip. Twenty three likes. Five retweets. And looking more like your father every year. Do carry on, pet.
Today marks 60 years since the Aberfan Disaster, one of the darkest days in our history.   The tragedy, which cut short so many lives, remains etched in the memory of our nation. We remember the 144 who died and pay tribute to a community of such strength and resilience.

🚨 UPDATE FROM GRAHAM LINEHAN Last week, the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC), the police watchdog, found that the Metropolitan Police’s handling of Graham’s complaint about his arrest at Heathrow was not reasonable or proportionate. Last year, Graham was arrested by five armed police officers as he arrived at Heathrow from Arizona. His “crime”? Three gender-critical posts on X. Gender-critical beliefs are lawful. They are protected under the Equality Act 2010 and were reaffirmed by last year’s landmark Supreme Court ruling. With the support of the Free Speech Union, Graham sent the Met a pre-action letter arguing that his arrest was unlawful and breached his right to freedom of expression under Article 10 of the European Convention on Human Rights. The Met issued a full and unreserved public apology and paid Graham £25,000 in compensation. Graham also complained to the Met’s Directorate of Professional Standards about his arrest and detention in September 2025. The IOPC has now ordered the Met to reinvestigate, saying Graham may have been treated as he was because of his gender-critical views. The Met’s decision to reopen the investigation is welcome news. Graham has been relentlessly hounded by trans activists for his lawful views and advocacy for women’s rights. The police have acted on vexatious complaints from those seeking to silence him and others who hold gender-critical beliefs. This ideological capture must end. The Free Speech Union is proud to support @Glinner. Watch Graham Linehan below 👇

France is in flames (yet he wants to rejoin the EU). Trump is selling out Ukraine, cosying up to Putin again A cost-of-living crunch is looming this winter, especially fuel bills. He still hasn’t told us how or when defence spending will reach 3% GDP. Inflation is rising once more, as are interest rates. Russian forces are threatening our infrastructure, especially undersea data and energy links. The Strait of Hormuz remains closed, our Gulf allies are under attack. And PM Burnham drivels about this!! It’s like the opening sketch from Saturday Night Live.
TikTok star Andy Burnham is back on TikTok displaying all his talents as an overblown local councillor, addressing the serious situation in Europe and how to stop the boats. Only kidding. He's talking about how to be good boys and girls on public transport. On TikTok 🤓👍

One week later, looking back on the 2026 Headway UK conference. Over 400 professionals, from healthcare, social care, legal services, academia and the voluntary sector, all with a common purpose: to support people affected by brain injury to live meaningful, fulfilling lives. The theme of this year’s conference was ‘Reintegration in action’ – we focused on how we can better support families affected by brain injury to reintegrate into society, and how to better support them once discharged from hospital. If you attended, thank you! We hope you had a wonderful day. If not, these pictures will have to do! What should the theme of next year’s conference be? Leave a comment and let us know! #HeadwayConference #Reintegration

Miller v Home Secretary and @LincsPolice On the orders of the Home Secretary, police are now recording full fat hate crimes against individuals - - No evidence needed beyond the say so of a complainant - No interview under caution - No charge - No CPS - No magistrate, judge or jury - No guilty verdict Just straight to a criminal record without passing Go. We say that is abhorrent. We say this is a police state Britain. November 18 - 19. High Court. Leeds.

Reform UK’s Shadow Chancellor has been reported to the police and Prevent over his comments on Islam. There can be no doubt that a de facto Islamic blasphemy law is operating in Britain today, 18 years after Parliament voted to abolish such laws. A week ago, it was reported that comedian John Cleese had been referred to Prevent over his social media posts about Islam. Elected representatives must be free to raise concerns about religious practices, political Islam and the influence of religion on British public life without automatically becoming the subject of police complaints or counter-extremism referrals. Prevent, the Government’s counter-terrorism programme, must not become a means for activists to punish political opponents or silence criticism of religion. Its purpose is to protect people from becoming terrorists or supporting terrorism, not to police the boundaries of acceptable political or theological debate. Blur that distinction and public confidence in one of the country’s most important counter-terrorism programmes is at risk. The Free Speech Union stands with @RobertJenrick, @RupertLowe10 Lowe, @NJ_Timothy and @JohnCleese in defending their right to question, challenge, debate and mock Islam, its history and its practices. In a free society, no religion should be beyond criticism, and no one should face punishment merely for causing religious offence. Read more from FSU Campaigns Officer @MaxHThompson 👇

This is just not true. As soon as I became foreign secretary I asked the security services the same question and they replied that there was no evidence of any successful interference in the 2016 referendum, by Russia or any other power. Either the security services have changed their view - which would be very odd - or Burnham is lying about what he has been told. After all Starmer was in power for two years and had access to exactly the same information. theguardian.com/technology/2…
