Excited to be selected as a dedicated mentor for the #newinc Y7 cohort of artists, technologists, and social changemakers. I will be providing my insights on both sides of #AI, its futuristic creative potential, and its adverse ramifications.

Earlier this summer, I (virtually) joined @jahyadotnet at #ReThinkFestival in presenting my commercial and artistic work investigating the social impacts of #AI. youtube.com/watch?v=nC9k6GiQ…

Can #ComputerVision “see” an abaya? a niqab? a bedouin? Many professional-grade software I used in my #AI experiments mislabeled, misgendered, and attached western labels to historical datasets capturing people in Arabia's nomadic past.

How does #ComputerVision perceive old archives? Is it able to identify non-western figures? Part of a series of #AI experiments I’ve been working on @tw_arts. I scraped and tested on 'Oriental' photographic archives taken by colonial photographers, dating between 1843 and 1920
