If you’re wondering how hard it is to get a rape conviction, it took six women, all of whom
testified against him, to get the jury to believe he raped only one of them. Now imagine how hard it is when a woman on her own is trying to get justice against her rapist.

Remembering Victoria Climbié 🙏🏾🤍
Victoria Climbié died in 2000 at the age of 8, following severe abuse by her guardians. Her death prompted a public inquiry, which led to significant reforms in child protection policies across England.
Today would’ve been her 35th birthday.

I am in disbelief that after Javits Frimpong was shot in the stomach, he laid there on the concrete for 30 minutes b/c multiple people saw him, walked by and didn’t call 911.
He could’ve survived. So many people failed him and that’s a reflection of a “me first” community.

So much unnecessary negativity about HaloBraid and half the naysayers have never created a thing in their lives. With the level of critique you’d think they were part of the seed round🤦🏽♀️

I find the reactions to HaloBraid interesting.
1. Just like a tailor using an electric sewing machine, a braider using a tool doesn’t strip out your cultural identity.
2. The existing division of labor for braids is that a more skilled person does the roots and an apprentice completes the ends, so the work division makes sense imo.
3. This is v1. Everything we use today has gone through a similar iteration. It’s how we get dishwashers and self-driving cars and mobile phones.
Hardware is tough, but I’m excited to see tech innovation around black hair, we deserve cool things too.
I wish Yinka all the best, and s/o to @sevensevensix for making the bet.

#JasonArday has been cleared of plagiarism for a fourth time. Why is the media silent about it?
As another investigation ends without substantiating plagiarism claims, @richardsudan asks who will hold the British media accountable for its treatment of the pioneering Black academic?👇🏿
