INEC DEEPENS SOUTH-SOUTH READINESS ASSESSMENT, SEEKS TRADITIONAL INSTITUTION’S SUPPORT FOR 2027 POLLS
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has intensified preparations for the 2027 General Election through an operational readiness assessment of the South-South geopolitical zone, with a renewed call for traditional institutions to support voter mobilisation, peaceful participation and electoral security.
The INEC Chairman, Professor Joash O. Amupitan, SAN, made the call during a courtesy visit to the palace of Eze (Barr.) U. Isaiah Elikwu, JP, Eze Epara Rebisi XII, First Son of Rebisi, Port Harcourt, Rivers State, as part of the Commission’s readiness assessment and stakeholder engagement in the zone.
Professor Amupitan emphasised the strategic role of traditional rulers in strengthening democratic participation, noting that credible elections require sustained engagement with communities where citizens exercise their constitutional right to vote.
He appealed to the royal father and the Council of Chiefs to mobilise eligible voters to collect their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), participate in the 2027 General Election and support efforts to ensure peaceful, free, fair, credible, inclusive and transparent electoral processes.
The Chairman explained that engaging traditional institutions formed part of the Commission’s broader strategy to strengthen grassroots collaboration, promote peaceful coexistence and build public confidence in the electoral process.
Highlighting INEC’s operational preparedness, Professor Amupitan cited the successful conduct of off-cycle governorship elections in Anambra, Ekiti and Osun States, as well as the Federal Capital Territory Area Council elections and 16 by-elections during his tenure. He said the Commission was building on these experiences to improve operational efficiency, strengthen logistics and ensure the timely deployment of election materials to polling units.
On electoral technology, he disclosed that INEC was working to enhance the efficiency of its processes, including the deployment of the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS). He also highlighted plans to reduce the voter threshold for BVAS deployment at polling units to facilitate smoother accreditation and voting.
Professor Amupitan urged eligible voters to take advantage of the display of the voters’ register to identify and correct errors before the production of the final register. He stressed that collecting PVCs remained essential to enabling eligible citizens to exercise their franchise.
The INEC Chairman also warned against the growing threat of misinformation and disinformation, particularly through social media and artificial intelligence. He urged traditional rulers to encourage their subjects to verify information before sharing it, noting that false narratives could undermine public confidence and discourage electoral participation.
On election security, he reaffirmed the Commission’s commitment to working with security agencies through the Inter-Agency Consultative Committee on Election Security (ICCES) to protect voters, electoral officials and ad hoc personnel, including members of the National Youth Service Corps deployed for election duties.
He noted that intelligence-sharing and coordinated security arrangements were critical to addressing emerging threats and overcoming security challenges, particularly in difficult and riverine communities.
Vote For Obi/Kwakwanso. NDC is the Party. 16 January 2027 is the date.
Dickson is treating Peter Obi like a jewel.
Can you imagine, they finished town hall meeting in Yenegoa, Went on a boat campaign...
Peter Obi told Dickson that he'll be heading back to prepare for visit to Imo tomorrow.
Dickson said it's not possible. That it'll be an insult to him if he doesn't host the incoming President in his private residence.
Peter Obi was not aware that Dickson had already set up a dinner banquet in his Sagama residence, with the entire community in attendance.
He introduced Peter Obi as a gift from heaven and vowed to ensure his victory in 2027.

Our economic reforms are aimed at building a stronger, more productive and prosperous Nigeria, where businesses can invest, grow and create opportunities for our people.
I welcome Airtel Nigeria’s Open Network initiative and its continued investment in expanding telecommunications infrastructure, including over 1,050 new network sites, 657 of them 5G sites. @AirtelNigeria
This is the kind of investment we are working to attract. Better connectivity means more opportunities for businesses, greater access to education and more Nigerians participating in our growing digital economy.
On our part, we are strengthening regulatory oversight, protecting consumers and expanding digital access, including free daily data for eligible students to access educational resources.
We will continue to create the conditions for investment and growth. I expect operators to match these opportunities with better coverage, fewer disruptions and improved services, particularly in underserved communities.
Our prosperity drive must reach every part of Nigeria.

INEC, ARE GHOST VOTERS ON YOUR REGISTER? NIGERIANS DEMAND ANSWERS!
Reports that deceased Nigerians, including prominent figures such as Raymond Dokpesi, Ifeanyi Ubah, Muhammadu Buhari and Rotimi Akeredolu, still appear on the voters’ register raise serious questions about its accuracy and integrity.
These are just a few names. What about the 774 local government areas across Nigeria? How many deceased persons remain on the register? When was it last comprehensively updated? Is this an oversight, institutional failure or something more troubling?
INEC has the legal responsibility to cleanse the register, especially if it has been notified by citizens. The electoral body owes Nigerians answers. We demand a credible, up-to-date and verifiable voters’ register ahead of the 2027 elections.
We call on Nigerians, and political parties to take advantage of their rights and file objections to the electoral body so INEC can effect removals. On its part, INEC needs to look into these complaints, establish a portal to put all names under objection and give persons against whom a complaint has been lodged the opportunity to respond (in the case of the living), as well as publishing the procedure to object to illegal names in the interest of the public. The electoral body is a well-funded organisation paid for by citizens, and therefore must provide value for money.
Nigerians will accept nothing less than the highest standards of efficiency, professionalism and accountability from INEC. The electoral body must demonstrate that it has the capacity, competence and commitment to deliver an election whose credibility cannot reasonably be called into question. This is not too much to ask; it is the bare minimum expected of an institution entrusted with the people’s democratic mandate.
Furthermore, in light of the 2023 election credibility challenges, it is time for an independent, unbiased and professional audit of INEC processes and mechanisms. The 2027 election is too critical for unanswered questions about the very foundation of our democracy. No excuses. No complacency. No questionable register. INEC must do its job.

It is with utmost sincerity and gratitude that I Mustapha Ridwan Olawale is writing this, to appreciate the massive love and support that I've been getting from every well meaning Nigerians, Obidients, Kwankwasiyans, Way Out Naija Vision, TTVOK TEAM Lagos, and so many other groups, individuals and organisations, my ever supportive party leaders and candidates from the Nigeria Democratic Congress NDC, and other great party leaders, my lawyers and many other legal luminaries, friends, family and well wishers that spoke out and fought dodgedly to secure my release from the grip of the power mongers and those who have sworn on their lives that Nigeria and Nigerians will know no peace and relative sanity, they get furious and irritated at the sound of truth and anything that reminds them of the definity of them losing the forthcoming election unfailingly.
And please do not tell me to watch my tone, because our ruiners are not watching it when they allow all the impunities and corruption ravage our dear nation, while me and you remain the civil ones, that's no fair play. Those who sharpen their blade should not tell us to only sharpen our pencil, except it is to write how many blade we sharpen and how many enemies bled by it, we are loving people, but to maintain the love, there must be equity, fairness and justice.
Let them know that we are just getting started, because mind is where you win the war before it's started, mind is where you break the walls before it's mounted, we already fought many battles, and still fighting, they didn't break our resolve, they only help use the pain to rekindle the passion.
This is Reedor Ways, and sadly for them I don't know how to back down on a cause I genuinely believe in, and I'm sure many Nigerians who are tired of their madness are also highly spirited and ready to take back our land from these soon to be boothed out oppressors.
Why are they scared of placards and voices, when they have guns, it only means power resides with the people, why are they scared of my leader Mr. Peter Obi whom they said he has no structure and is surrounded by content creators, we will choke them with enough of it btw, afterall they have so many governors on their side and a DSS that could track my location but wouldn't do the same for the boko boys in the bush posting on Tiktok, they were so eager to mask my tiny face along the street of Lagos in the middle of the night and during the day, those who kept telling me things like "I'll blow your head up", "If they send you on slave errand, you will tend to it like a child".
Kill me today, many shall rise in my stead, before me there were great women and men, who fought gallantly and so shall it continue to be, till we wash the land clean and put Nigeria and Africa on the list of great nations where she actually belong.
"United we stand, divided we are conquered" is a cliche we all must hold on to, you see how we all made this happen, we are not done, we will stay together and be OK together, speak up for the rest of our comrades across the nation #FreeSanusiNow.
One man na one vote oo, ẹ gbàgbé bóshe shẹlẹ̀🖐🏾, Ọlọ́hun ngbọ́ ṣẹ́, the era of wuruwuru is over over and over, like a cell mate would say, election oo, revolution ooo, all way na Ways.
We must fix Nigeria and the land of Africa for the sake of humanity.
Hello Mr. AI Joash Amupitan and his fellows, If you rig our election you will die, that shouldn't scare a plain man, abi una wan rig, why are you running kitikiti🤷🏾♂️.
I repeat for the umpteenth time #TinubuMustGo, #RigAndDie2027 #OccupyINECNow nothing has changed other than we are now even more eager and ready to take back this country, we only went to get fuel inside DSS custody. Una mind must dey.
Nigeria must be OK✌🏾.
