After 6 months of fieldwork in Bougainville🇵🇬, I'm ready to embark on leg 1 of my #NoFly journey to Germany. Travelling by🚢,🚅,&🚌over 27,000km, I'll emit ~535kg of CO2, 10 times less than✈️. This decision cost me my job, but I still think it was the right thing to do. 1/🧵

According to the #IPCC AR6 Synthesis Report, to limit global warming to '1.5°C with no or limited overshoot', then global CO2 emissions decline:
* 48% in 6 years
* 80% in 14 years
* 99% in 24 years

Wem das zu radikal ist: Bitte bedenken, dass ich mich mit dem Thema seit 25J beschäftige und erst jetzt an dem Punkt angekommen bin - aus einem einfachen Grund. Laut IPCC gilt: "Its now or never", dass Emissionen stark sinken. Tun sie aber nicht. Ergo: Aktion oder Resignation.
