What a shameless statement. You have more anger for a man holding you to your promises than for those who stripped Jammu and Kashmir of its rights. Your courage appears only when the questions are directed at you. The Qur'an was first invoked by your President, we responded to it - you are enraged now because Aga sb’s response has exposed you in his response. You are fighting with the wrong man, sonny boy. You call Aga Sb morally bankrupt. He has given up his seat. You have given up your commitments to keep yours. Spare us the lecture. And spare us the claim that he remembered 2010 only today. He was part of that government. He owes answers for that, and leaving the party does not erase that responsibility. He has acknowledged it. Where is the same acknowledgment from the man who was Chief Minister? You ask what he has done for Article 370. Have you listened to his speeches, or does your research begin and end with whatever flatters the crown prince? Your statement demands answers about Parliament. Fine. Those questions can be answered from the record. Now answer the question you keep dodging: why did you ask people to vote for the restoration of Article 370 if your answer after winning was that those who took it away would not return it? The BJP was in power when you wrote the manifesto. You knew exactly whom you would be dealing with. What changed after the election, apart from your access to office? On reservation, you have the audacity to ask where his protest was. He stood with students outside the Chief Minister’s residence in December 2024. You remember it perfectly well. You have been attacking him for it ever since. You promised to correct the injustice. Now you want applause for a committee and sympathy for a stalled file. Publish the decision. Publish the dates. Tell the students exactly what was proposed, when it was submitted and what remains blocked. They deserve an answer, not another statement attacking the man standing beside them. And this talk of “deft politics.” Is that what you call arriving with shawls for Delhi while carrying a mandate built on restoring our rights? Is that what the speeches about clear skies were supposed to achieve? You are offended by his language. Where was this outrage when your own election promises became inconvenient? Stop telling people that he owes his political existence to you. The votes belonged to the people. The seats belonged to the people. You did not confer a favour on Kashmir by allowing its people to elect their representatives. That is the arrogance at the heart of this statement. You think public office is your inheritance and anyone who questions you is an ungrateful subject. Today, he returned the seat you kept throwing in his face. As for the narcissist, your British boy should not worry. Tell him to keep his passports ready. We will fund a first-class ticket back to London. Get running, sonny boy. It is so done, bro. Stay rattled.
Aga Ruhullah’s speech was a manifestation of his mental and moral bankruptcy, and an example of his self-obsession. While invoking the holy Quran and the divine message of dignity and respect for human beings, Ruhullah’s speech was full of derogatory, abusive and unparliamentary language against NC leadership. The language used by him only reflects who he is! Since Aga Ruhullah has chosen to use the issue of special status and reservation to resign from NC, it’s important to keep the record straight. He only remembered to resign when he was told to by the party president. The same way he only remembered 2010 today when it suited him. He is a man who happily remained in office as a minister in 2010 until he was removed in a general reshuffle. He was happy to fight elections in 2014 on JKNC ticket and didn’t remember 2010 then. In fact he conveniently forgot all about it until 2026, 16 years later. 1: Wasn’t Aga Ruhullah the first to welcome the resolution demanding restoration of special status, passed by the J&K Assembly on November 6. Didn’t he say that it was the promise that had been delivered? What has Aga Ruhullah done in Parliament on special status. Wasn’t he elected to the parliament to represent the sentiment of people and garner support of secular parties and MPs in the parliament. Aga Ruhullah Mehdi was able to gather signatures of over 100 MPs from different parties in the parliament to move an impeachment motion against Allahabad High Court judge Shekar Kumar Yadav. Can he tell us if he ever made such an effort to gather signatures of MPs for the restoration of special status or statehood? Did he even try to move a resolution or bill in the parliament in this regard? Aga Ruhullah Mehdi was sent to parliament to speak about the dispossession and how people’s will represented by the elected government has been undermined and belittled by the central government and its appointed Lt Governor in an attempt to delegitimise the vote and elected government. Did he speak even once - that even under the current UT arrangement, the departments which are technically under elected government are not allowed to function and LG continues to run them through remote control? Aga Ruhullah Mehdi started his opposition to elected government on the issue of reservation in jobs, a grave injustice to the open merit category. It’s indeed a grave injustice committed during LGs rule. NC raised this issue made it an important part of its election manifesto and promised to change it. Ironically, Aga and his ilk chose to blame the whistleblower for the problem. Did he ever utter a single word against LG and central government for snatching jobs of open merit category? In accordance with its election promise, NC government formed a cabinet sub-committee and made first significant changes in the reservations. The file has been stalled by the powers that be. Did Mr Mehdi, raise this issue in the parliament and ask the centre why they have stalled the J&K cabinet decision on Reservation in jobs? Aga sb was elected as MP six months before Assembly elections and formation of elected government in J&K. Did he organise a single protest against the LG and demanded justice for open merit? Did he raise the issue of multiple fraud recruitments and exams and how job aspirants of one region were systematically removed from the system and jobs? While the NC government knows its limitations given the present scheme of things, it has carefully chosen its roadmap on the issues which are directly linked to our existence and identity. 1/2

@RuhullahMehdi will resign from the National Conference and his Lok Sabha seat on November 3, 2026. The crown prince and his cabal treat J&K as an estate passed down through the family. They expect the people to vote, then know their place. They take us for fools who cannot tell a broken promise from a political necessity. Ask them to honour their own manifesto, and they lecture us on how little we understand realpolitik. We demanded the restoration of Article 370, the release of prisoners and the protection of our rights. They sought power on those promises, then treated us as fools for expecting them to deliver. We refuse to lend our name to this humiliation. There is no fixing this rot from within. The seat was won on a promise to the people. @RuhullahMehdi will surrender it rather than make himself an accomplice to that promise’s betrayal. He will address the people on the death anniversary of Martyr Aga Syed Mehdi at Behshit-e-Zehra Park, Budgam, on November 3. We welcome all to join.

VIDEO | National Conference MP from Srinagar Aga Syed Ruhullah Mehdi (@RuhullahMehdi) has decided to resign from the party as well as Parliament on November 3. He says, "For the sake of the fight that I took, that I was fighting, it has now become very important for me to be clear and to follow the direction without any confusion. The way the party has behaved in the last two years and the way they try to malign my efforts that I did vis-a-vis my political responsibility, the collective agenda that that we had. I continued with the struggle, I continued with the fight, I believed in the principles of being committed to the people and working on that commitment with conviction. This conviction and this continuity or this consistency was maligned by my own party, casting aspersions to my person, casting aspersions to my struggle, they were heading, they still are heading in the opposite direction to what they committed in the elections. And that again is not helpful. That doesn't bring clarity to the fight..." #AgaSyedRuhullahMehdi

JKPSC cannot be left headless while aspirants watch their years of preparation and their last chance at selection slip away. The government’s inaction is costing young people their future. Appoint a Chairman immediately and grant age relaxation to those losing their opportunity due to this delay. Aspirants must not be punished for the government’s failure.

Jamia Millia Islamia, Day 14. Students asked for an elected union. They got guards tearing down their tents, disciplinary action, shut gates, and police loudspeakers ordering them off their own campus. Four are on hunger strike. Students say even food and water are being stopped at the gate, and that force has been used against women protesters. This is not how a university treats students . It should start listening to students.

On reservation, the excuse was Delhi. On the stipend, there is no Delhi. The file is with this Government's own Finance Department. Its own Health Minister approved it. It came back anyway. And when our interns went to ask why, they were humiliated. Told their education is a favour. Lectured, instead of answered. Young doctors who carry our hospitals through the night deserve respect from those who govern, not contempt. Public money is not anyone's charity, and merit is not a favour. We stood with our students then. We stand with our interns now. When there is no one left to blame, who is stopping the order?
Today, an intern delegation met the OSD to Health Minister Sakina Masood Itoo and the Director General of Finance over the long-pending stipend hike for MBBS/BDS interns of J&K. Instead of a concrete resolution, we were met with humiliating remarks. The OSD reportedly told us that the government was doing us a favour by providing free medical education. Since when has public expenditure become anyone’s personal charity? The money belongs to the taxpayers of J&K, not to ministers or bureaucrats. We earn our degrees through merit, sacrifice and relentless hard work. Thirty days of written assurance, another week of waiting, repeated meetings—and still no implementation order. When it comes to making commitments, the assurances flow freely; when it comes to delivering, the excuses never end. Calling doctors beneficiaries of government generosity while dismissing their legitimate concerns is an insult to the entire medical profession. It takes neither courage nor leadership to lecture struggling interns; it takes accountability to honour your word. The authorities should answer the people instead of humiliating their doctors. If the government cannot fulfil its commitments, it must take responsibility for the consequences of its continued inaction. We will not trade our dignity for another hollow assurance. No more deadlines. No more empty words. We demand the order and its immediate implementation. To the OSD: Either you take us for fools, or you seriously underestimate the intelligence of the people you are dealing with. Your conduct today reflected a complete lack of courage and accountability, making you appear more like a puppet of the government than an officer willing to stand by his word. Your actions have severely undermined your credibility and the respect your office is expected to command. @RuhullahMehdi @Office_ASRM @TeamASRM @OfficeOfLGJandK @OmarAbdullah @sakinaitoo @parawahid @aimsa_fmsw @DrMohammadMomin @ANI @PTI_News @ians_india @RisingKashmir @newsagencyknt @aajtak @DrDhruvchauhan @official_aimsa @RahulGandhi @KNO_NEWS @Indian_doctor @KNSKashmir @official_afa_ @KashmirLife @iamsahilparray @TariqKarra @sajadlone @IltijaMufti_ @TheSkandar @DrSuneem @GAMIR_INC @TariqKarra @aajtak @GulistanNewsTV @ABPNews @ndtvindia @AmitShah @narendramodi @MoHFW_INDIA @shanwazkhan__ @vector_313 #InternStipendHike #JammuAndKashmir

That's how a senior IAS officer in J&K — Administrative Secretary, Labour & Employment — dealt with a woman KAS officer who wouldn't be shouted down in front of a room full of officers. He raised his voice. She raised her dignity. He reached for the only weapon a bully in office has: her job. This is a grown man with a Secretary's chair threatening a woman's career because she asked to be allowed to finish a sentence. She was composed. She was clear. She didn't flinch. That is what dignity and self respect looks like. He is what a problem looks like. This is what abrogation of Art 370 has brought upon us. An assault on dignity at every level. Even the officers in administration behave like conquerors. @OfficeOfLGJandK @DullooAtal — if she is touched for holding her dignity, it will have consequences.

The pulpit looses its essence and institutional value if it surrenders to power. It was never meant to bow down and it never should. The Waqf Board's plan to dictate Friday sermons is an assault on our faith, dressed up as "coordination." No committee should decide what our Ulema say in the house of Allah. The pulpits cannot be silenced with a circular. This order should be withdrawn immediately. The Mimber (Pulpit) is not up for negotiation.
The J&K Waqf Board has pushed for uniform Friday sermons at all mosques in the Union Territory (UT) and will become the first region in the country to adopt this mechanism to ensure the topics to be highlighted at religious places are pre-decided and approved by a committee of preachers. ✍️ @peerashiq thehindu.com/news/national/j…
