A defining moment at the Gauteng Investment Conference 2026.
In his final address as the outgoing MEC for Finance & Economic Development, @LebogangMaile1 Maile didn’t just reflect, he challenged every stakeholder in the room to act.
To government: move faster.
To financiers: unlock bold, blended solutions.
To business: step in as true partners, not observers.
This wasn’t just about policy or pipelines, it was about momentum.
“The theme is not a slogan. It’s a call to action.”
Gauteng has proven it can mobilise investment. Now it’s about turning that investment into real, visible impact, on the ground, at scale.

This morning, I am leading a Foot-and-Mouth Disease (FMD) workshop with SAPS and various law enforcement agencies as part of the Gauteng Rapid Response Plan.
This engagement forms a critical part of our four-pillar strategy to curb the spread of FMD, with enforcement playing a key role. Through strengthened enforcement measures, including coordinated roadblocks, we are working to tighten the movement of livestock across the country and protect our agricultural sector.
Together, we remain committed to safeguarding animal health, supporting farmers, and ensuring food security in Gauteng and beyond.

Illegal movement of livestock remains one of the most significant drivers of Foot-and-Mouth Disease infections. This is why SAPS and other law enforcement agencies play a pivotal role in protecting our livestock and safeguarding the agricultural economy.
If we do not fully activate and collaborate with our security agencies in this fight, we risk losing the fight against FMD.
Strong enforcement, coordinated action, and shared accountability are essential to stopping the spread and safeguarding our economy!

It’s day two of the Back to School campaign, and this morning I am at Katlegong Engineering School of Specialisation.
The school is home to 1 596 learners who specialise in various engineering disciplines. This is what the future of schooling looks like, focused, skills-driven, and responsive to the needs of our economy.
As the Gauteng Government, we are proud to be equipping learners with critical engineering skills from as early as Grade 8.
