Our IGAD Special Youth Envoy, Mr @OgwalSam has joined H.E @DrWorkneh, our @IGADsecretariat Executive Secretary to participate in the 1st Conference of African Defense Chiefs on Military Operations other than War taking place in Uganda.
The Conference has noted the threat of AI on continental security, with more emphasis being put on building the capability of youth through skilling and support for youth-led innovation to provide solutions. This has been adopted as part of the broader conference recommendations.
Special thanks to H.E @KagutaMuseveni and the Chief of Defense Force of Uganda, @mkainerugaba for the leadership and creation of this Vital platform.

Africa’s evolving security challenges demand not only strong, well-equipped armies, but also greater cooperation beyond the battlefield.
I joined African defense leaders at the Closing Ceremony of the inaugural African Conference of Chiefs of Defense Forces on Military Operations Other Than War in Uganda, presided by H.E. President @KagutaMuseveni.
I underscored the need for Africa’s military institutions to champion lasting peace as the foundation of development, strengthening civil-military cooperation to advance national, regional and continental prosperity.
I commend Uganda for convening this important dialogue towards a more peaceful, secure and prosperous Africa.

You must have been a good student of reported speech!😂
Anyway, @FabiusMulongo is in the city. When should we go and eat his dollars.
Davis Amooti was simply mourning his King and somehow managed to trigger Mama Uganda.
Apparently, Amooti once slid into Mama Uganda’s DMs asking for 20K, so Mama Uganda decided to release the receipts. But that wasn’t the end of the drama. Mr Mugabe also wanted to take Mama Uganda on a date because her posts illuminate humanity only for the proposal to be rejected because … he sells airtime. 😭
But plot twist! Fraine Supermarket has now offered to sponsor the date for free, and the generous tweeps are behind this cause …offering to pay once they actually go on a date.

"Chairman, a country without reserves is not sovereign. The potential of this Bill to destabilize Uganda’s balance of payments is our primary concern as a central bank. For example, last financial year the overall balance of payment surplus was USD 1.5 billion. That’s how we were able to increase our reserve coverage by USD 1.5 billion. Today as we speak our reserves are close to USD 6 billion. Why? Because these inflows have been coming in. The moment you tamper with these inflows here, we risk running down our reserves, and that is economic disaster for a country.” Governor Atingi-Ego on the Protection of Sovereignty Bill 2026 in an appearance before Parliament today.

It was a great pleasure meeting with the @IGADYouthEnvoy , H.E. Sam Ogwal, at Fairway Hotel, Kampala, during the National Peace Leadership Conference held under the theme:
“Youth Against Misinformation, Disinformation and Hate Speech.”
Our engagement was an important opportunity to exchange ideas on the critical role of young people in building peaceful, inclusive and resilient societies across Uganda, the IGAD region and Africa.
As young peacebuilders and leaders, we must move beyond being consumers of information to becoming responsible creators, fact-checkers, peace advocates and champions of positive narratives. In an increasingly digital world, our voices can either deepen division or become powerful tools for dialogue, understanding and social cohesion.
I deeply appreciate the opportunity to connect with the IGAD Youth Envoy and to reflect on how young people can contribute meaningfully to preventing and countering misinformation, disinformation and hate speech, while promoting peace, tolerance and constructive civic engagement.
Peace begins with what we choose to say, share and amplify. Let us use our digital spaces to build bridges, not walls.

Today, I listened carefully to the philosophical words of Gen. Kahinda Otafiire, and they left me reflecting deeply on leadership, loyalty and strategy I was seated just on the left hand side @pwatchug.
In politics, genuine support must never be confused with desperation. Leadership requires people who are courageous enough to speak the truth, challenge ideas and propose workable strategies not simply say “yes” to everything.
Within PLU @mkainerugaba, there must be room for open and honest discussion about the road ahead towards 2031. Those closest to any leader carry an even greater responsibility to offer sound counsel, because unquestioning loyalty can ultimately become a liability.
Strong political movements are built by thinkers, strategists and people prepared to respectfully disagree when necessary. The greatest service to leadership is not applause it is honest counsel, strategic thinking and the courage to prevent avoidable mistakes.
We must debate, listen and choose our strategies wisely. @HonTwallafadil @BalaamBarugahar @DaudiKabanda @chairtoyota @PLUsecretariat @ObothOboth @StateHouseUg @otafiire_k
