An unsettling presence...am I being watched? 👀
Yes, by a judge!
Salmon P. Chase was the sixth Chief Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court. He also served as the 23rd Governor of Ohio from 1856 to 1860.
Check out this bust alongside one of Lincoln in the Statehouse Museum!

In 1965, the stained glass Seal of Ohio was replaced with a painted canvas seal.
The canvas was installed at the top of the Rotunda and a three-foot chandelier was hung from the center of the seal to provide light.
The canvas seal was replaced in 1996.

Ohio's state flag, also known as the Ohio Burgee, became our state flag in 1902.
Its distinctive design (the only non-rectangular U.S. state flag) contains symbolism for the state, including the "O" for Ohio.
See Ohio's flag flying both inside and outside of our Statehouse!

The room is named after Williams, who served from 1880-1881, and the space is decorated in the style of that era.

After the Senate Building was built in 1901, the area between the Statehouse and the Senate Building was outdoors.
It was famously nicknamed "Pigeon Run" because of the resident birds. This space was enclosed during the 1990s Statehouse renovation project.
