This is pretty insane. Oilers have the top three scorers in the league, and McDavid has more assists than any other player has points
I never like using the refs as an excuse but giving Anaheim 9 minutes of powerplay time in one period is a bit much
I think that I was wrong about Babcock. Most Oilers fans are above average in their knowledge of the game, and Babcock speaks to those people.
But most importantly, he has brought accountability where it is much needed. Scratching Walman? Which other Oilers coach would dream of such a thing?
We screamed for it for Nurse and others over the years and then lamented the hiring of a coach who would actually do it. Whatever happens from here, it should set a different standard.
"He's a real hockey player. He's beyond smart and makes the right plays all the time."
Coach Babcock praised what Ryan Nugent-Hopkins has brought to the #Oilers lineup since returning from injury following Saturday's victory.

Nikita Kucherov has informed the Lightning organization that he will not be re-signing and would like to be traded, multiple sources have told @FriedgeHNIC. sportsnet.ca/nhl/article/sou…
Shows up in the overall xGF% as well. The strategy seems to be to force other teams to deal with the fab five for 40-50% of the game, capitalize on the PP, and break even with the rest of the lineup rather than coming at opponents in waves. Very curious how it holds up over the long term
Really like Anaheim, Colorado, Buffalo
Toronto, Montreal kinda cool
The rest are meh
In case you’re more of a squinting person than a scrolling person…
We now have TWENTY of the upcoming Hometown Remix jerseys, nearly 2/3rds of the league. Who’s in the lead for your favorite?

Oilers have slipped to sub-50% in 5x5 expected GF% per 60. They’re still a top ten team in xGA, but even with the big line going supernova they’re 29th in xGF
Unless something changes quickly the regression is going to be rather jarring
Postava didn’t even have to read shot from Nugent-Hopkins, even the broadcast knew he had to shoot, and the goalie gave him nothing to shoot at. First two saves were athletic, last one was cerebral. Well played
