Superb night at @TheGreystones with the hugely talented Callaghan and Ed Cosens. What a privilege , such a great venue #Sheffield

Granville Road. Got my angles all wrong, but the property on the left was struck in the blitz and subsequently demolished. When you make your way around Sheffield and spot a gap in a terraced road or house that looks out of place, these are ghosts of WWII #Sheffield

AI generates BBC weather on my smart speaker.. 'in S12 it's going to be gale force winds, but also showers.. so it's a good idea to go out with an umbrella' No. It isn't. That's an awful idea 馃檮

Bizarre piece on BBC News with some bloke extolling the virtues of Blackpool, with a picture of Forgemasters behind him 馃檮 Seriously though, if we don't win with that shortlist it will be a travesty. My prediction... Wrexham 馃槥
馃毃 NEW: Blackpool, Milton Keynes, Sheffield and Wrexham have been shortlisted for the UK City of Culture 2029

The top picture is a house in Salford given grade II listed status. The bottom ones on Norton Lane, we always used to pass it going to Rowlinson swimming baths. Can't see a deal of difference myself. Justice for Norton.

Just in from @The_Proclaimers at the City Hall.. I've seen them several times going back to a gig at the Octagon in the 80's , but tonight they were absolutely amazing 馃憦馃徏 So good

Correction. Originally tram stops #Sheffield
The old bus shelters on Pinstone Street were a real slice of Old Sheffield. Built against the wall of St Paul's church. Now the church, wall and shelters are all long gone #Sheffield

View along Pinstone Street, with the Town Hall and St Pauls Church. The church was built in 1721, on what was then the edge of the town of Sheffield. It was demolished in 1938, it was commemorated in the name of the gardens that replaced it. Better known as the Peace Gardens 馃晩

Just because you have heaved your unwanted fridge over a wall doesn't mean the magic fridge pixies make it disappear. You have people who give up their spare time to wrestle it down precarious slope next to open water. Surrounded by more rubbish and got knows what else 馃檮
Busy day for the 'Hawk' crew on Thursday, cutting back buddleia obstructing the approach to Tinsley Lock 10 and retrieving fly-tipped rubbish (including a fridge freezer!) @CRTYorkshireNE @CanalRiverTrust #volunteerbywater #hawktheworkboat #sheffieldandtinsleycanal #Sheffield

Construction of Ashopton Viaduct and Ladybower Reservoir, Ashopton Inn, Sheffield to Glossop Road, in foreground. Definitely, one of my dodgier missions, but Ladybowers not this low too often #Sheffield #Ashopton

Help required. My gig diary has two entries which I can't date. Trouble Funk 87/88 - possibly Octagon. Big Audio Dynamite 2 - 91/92 at Leadmill. Internet has no knowledge of the TF gig and denies point blank the BAD gig happened. Restore my sanity please 馃檹

Down at the future Castle Hill Park there's a stone yard. This piece catches the eye, I don't know if it's from the Castle or subsequent use of the site, but heavily carved #Sheffield

The Cannon Brewery site completed the demotion stage , then activity at the site seems stalled. I believe behind the scenes the planning permission has gone through and a contractor duly appointed for the build. The Brew House and Water Tower are retained #Sheffield

Finally, some signs of progress in the River Sheaf at the Castle site. These structures have appeared under Castlegate. They look like the ones shown in graphics of the site plans. They will brace the river banks eventually allowing for removal of the yellow temporary supports

They are designed to allow fish to migrate up the river. Probably invisible when the river is higher than today, but at times like these the gap is crucial to allow the fish to pass upstream

I absolutely love where I live, such a beautiful and fascinating area to walk. The peaceful woods of the Moss Valley were once a place of industry. Built between 1855 and 1875 the poetically named Seldom Seen Engine house is one imposing reminder of coal mining in the area
