Are BYU fans watching enough college football outside of Provo?
College football parity is at an all-time high, and I think some BYU fans need a little perspective.
Take a look at what’s happened across college football over the last three weeks.
Some ranked teams barely survived:
• #1 Miami beat North Carolina by 3.
• #4 Indiana beat Minnesota by 7 in OT.
• #20 Boise State beat Texas State by 1.
• #11 Utah barely survived Colorado, 27–24.
• #25 Northwestern beat Michigan State by 3.
• #8 BYU beat Arizona State, 27–20.
Others, weren’t so fortunate:
• #2 Ohio State lost to USC by 12.
• #13 Texas Tech lost to Cincinnati by 13.
• #19 SMU lost to Syracuse by 3.
• #25 Wisconsin got shut out 30–0 by Iowa.
• #11 Tennessee lost to South Carolina by 3.
And even • #2 BYU lost to UCF in double overtime.
Through Week 8, 128 conference games had been decided by 8 points or fewer…..
The transfer portal, NIL and constant roster turnover have changed college football. The talent gap between programs isn’t what it used to be.
BYU absolutely has things to clean up.
But how many ranked teams are consistently dominating their opponents every Saturday and how many upsets have there been throughout the season?

Roger Saleapaga gave his heart, body, and soul for that 1st down and if BYU wins the game ball should go to him. He is a stud for real folks. A stud.
Growing up my dad wouldn’t let me ever complain about the refs. He always said play good enough to beat the other team and the refs. We didn’t do either. Time to regroup and get ready for ASU.
Defense thought they had arrived after last week. Glad they got embarrassed today. They are going to have to really dig deep this week. We have a bunch of tough games still ahead.
Congrats to UCF. They just out played us today. Hope they take the longest slowest flight home. Team needs to pull their heads out.

No one thought BYU could run the ball last night without LJ Martin.
Yet Preston Rex finished with 66 yards on 10 carries against college football’s top-ranked run defense.
He’s a true unsung hero from last night. Another highlight for the Rex family’s rich BYU tradition.
