Elon Musk is without a doubt the most grotesque example of extreme wealth being mistaken for virtuous genius that I’ve ever seen, no contest.
A dude whose business empire has had the exceptional luxury of upwards of $38 BILLlON in government contracts, loans, subsidies, and tax credits that lectures us on government waste, fraud, and abuse.
He takes a literal fucking chainsaw to government aid, while hundreds of thousands die from the lack of access, and simultaneously engorges himself at the public pig trough of endless money.
He then takes the grift cash to buy elections, outright rig them, gains extraordinary access to the backrooms and convinces panting sycophants that he’s “fighting the establishment.”
He IS the establishment.
Years and years of missed deadlines, self driving promises just around the corner. Spectacular theatrical marketing presentations presented as new technology, with an army of ball riding zombies to explain why his latest failure is actually evidence of 5D chess wizardry.
All in line to be the friend he doesn’t have.
He was emailing Epstein to find about the “wildest parties” on child rape island, and you people still clamber.
Speaking of mouth breathing followers, the cult surrounding him is even more disturbingly dangerous.
Every glaring contradiction becomes an insult worthy misunderstanding.
Every dumb comment is a masterpiece. Every legitimate totally fair criticism becomes proof that the questioner is stupid, jealous, or secretly working against humanity itself.
It’s so blatantly a cult.
At what point does this bizarre admiration become deliberately and completely giving up independent thought?
You can acknowledge the success of his companies and the remarkable engineering feats without cosplaying that he’s some infallible prophet.
And give his employees some credit.
He’s a trillionaire with huge political influence, a pretty pathetic appetite for public attention indicative of someone that’s insecure, and a documented history of promise after promise that he doesn’t deliver on.
Please, don’t confuse money with intelligence.
They rarely go hand in hand.
Also, realize that proximity to great power is not synonymous with moral authority. The truth is historically the opposite.
And for fucks sake, stop worshipping people who wouldn’t piss on you if you were on fire.
Pure fucking insanity that we’ve allowed the robber-barons to get to this state. Nearly a century of endless pillaging and erosion of civic responsibility.
Everyone should watch this video. Anger at the ultra-wealthy is NOT about envy. First, you have to comprehend the absurd scale of what's going on right now.

Yes, and his party’s politics are influencing Japan’s tourism and immigration policies. We don’t want people like this in charge, do we? I hope every upstanding Japanese person who wants to visit USA or live there can do so without issue.
“THE AI BUBBLE WILL POP” !
Everyone who is relying on this “bubble” to burst, - fanatically imagining a world in which OpenAI and Anthropic magically disappear, and that generative AI will go away, and that all the data centers, all the employees, and researchers are going to magically snap out of the universe as if Thanos had used his Claude gauntlet to snap every AI researcher out of this world.
Here's a fun fact, every single major bubble regarding a new technology or industry has never been successful at eradicating that industry. It has only been successful at reevaluating market caps of that industry.
This would be akin to one of my favorite historical bubbles, which was the video game bubble.
A lot of people don't know this, but from 1983 to 1985, video game revenue had fallen over 97% an almost total eradication of the brand new entertainment industry that had swept kids around the world. And then a little company called Nintendo came around and revived it. - AI is far more consequential than video games, and AI revenue is not going to fall 97%, even when you take into account open source.
But that's for another post later.
Think of the dot-com bubble, the fiber-optic bubble, and the clean-tech bubble.
I wonder what all the "the AI bubble is going to burst at any moment" people are going to do when Anthropic inevitably IPOs.
There might be a 20% to 30% drop, and yet they will still crush revenue, the world will continue moving on, and they will continue developing superintelligence.
What do they think the plan was? Even if Anthropic dropped 50% during its IPO, people act like that is going to magically evaporate the thousands of highly talented engineers and millions of GPUs going to train AI. Soon AGI is going to subsume the US economy. This will be a good thing for humanity. A lot of people don't remember that the microbubble with data centers and hyperscalers had popped when CoreWeave and Oracle went down 20-40% in a month. And yet, financial analysts reevaluated, and now they're back to normal.
This technology, dare I say, is the most consequential thing the United States has ever produced, and it doesn't matter what ticker symbols say. We are going to continue developing this technology short of a Great Depression. And even then, the research will still continue.

If AI is a bubble that pops, we will need UBI, and if AI isn't a bubble and replaces a lot of labor, we will need UBI. So hey, here's a thought, let's do UBI now before all the shit truly hits the fan.
This kind of thing is starting to become a massive problem for people on the Left. If you’re a lefty I implore you not to try to turn AI usage into an “us vs them” thing. It will not turn out well for thousands of reasons. People in other countries already view AI usage as a way—
—and disparaging it as a “conservative” thing will lead to exactly the same circumstances that put some of the most evil and incompetent people in power for the last 10 years. Please, if you’re a lefty, try to get AHEAD of this, agitate for its use in a positive direction—
I just had people do this to a set of mods I spent weeks working on, calling it “slop” (with seriously 0 substantive criticism) because I used ai assistance on things I don’t have expertise in.

I don’t want a future where AI creates millions of new jobs.
I want a future where humanity no longer needs millions of jobs.
Where survival isn’t something you have to earn by selling most of your waking life.
The goal of automation shouldn’t be more work.
It should be freedom.

A lot of people are (predictably) misinterpreting this. There has been almost 0 decline among boys. The big change: Fewer girls say they're bisexual now after that spiked during the pandemic.
That was clearly a fad to people with common sense, so this isn't surprising. Sorry.
Young teenagers are less likely to identify as lesbian, gay or bisexual than a few years ago, according to a new analysis.

TRUMP: THE ONLY REASON THE AI/DATA CENTER OUTBURST IS HAPPENING IS BECAUSE THE UNITED STATES IS LEADING, BY A LOT, EVERY OTHER COUNTRY. DON’T KILL THE GOLDEN GOOSE! PRESIDENT DONALD J. TRUMP
This lady seems to get it. It isn’t about preserving the ability to use the discs themselves (that’s always good). It’s having parity with the rights that physical ownership confers. This is the absolute FLOOR of what we should be entitled to.

If I were president and I wanted to tank the dollar and get rich off it, here is exactly what I would do.
I would hire a Treasury Secretary who already made $3.5 billion crashing another country's currency. I would put my guy in charge of the agency that approves bank charters. I would install a crypto czar with $200M in crypto holdings and give him an ethics waiver so nobody could challenge it.
Then I would sign an executive order banning the government from ever creating a digital dollar so there was no competition.
Then I would have my family launch their own private digital dollar. My family takes 75% of net profits. I would grow it to $4.6 billion in circulation and route a $2 billion Abu Dhabi sovereign fund deal through it to prove it works.
Then I would get Congress to pass a law requiring every stablecoin in the country to hold short-term Treasury bills. Now every dollar of my digital currency is a forced buyer of government debt. Brookings projects $2.3 trillion in captive demand by 2030.
Then I would have my OCC guy grant my family's company a federal bank charter. Now I can issue my digital dollar with federal authority.
Then I would have my Treasury Secretary weaken the actual dollar. Bond buybacks that suppress yields but tank the currency. Build a $950 billion war chest for more. Let the debt hit $40 trillion. Dollar index drops to 99. Gold goes to highest point ever.
Then I would kill the Corporate Transparency Act and delete the FinCEN beneficial ownership database. That was the one law that required every shell company in America to report who actually owns it. Without it, nobody can trace who is buying my stablecoin, who is routing money through it, or where the profits land.
Then I would let the loop run. Weaker dollar drives demand for "stable" digital alternatives. The law I passed forces those alternatives to buy T-bills. That funds the government's debt. My family takes profit on every transaction. Foreign central banks walking away from Treasuries get replaced by legally mandated stablecoin reserves my family controls.
Then I would use sanctions to start cutting countries off from the dollar system entirely. And when those countries need a new way to transact in dollars, the only federally chartered private digital dollar in existence is mine. They can buy it through shell companies nobody can trace because I deleted the ownership database.
I just built a toll booth on the global financial system. I take a cut every time someone uses the dollar. And I made it so nobody can see who is paying.
And every single step I just described has already happened.
So what does that mean for you and I?
The reason the United States can borrow at low rates and keep your mortgage and your car payment and your import prices stable is because foreign central banks hold trillions in dollar reserves. That system has always been public. The benefit went to everyone. Lower borrowing costs, cheaper goods , and the single biggest economic advantage any country has ever had.
What I just described is the privatization of that function. The entity buying the debt is no longer a central bank acting in the public interest. It is a private company taking 75% of net profits for one family. The reserve function used to generate a public benefit. Now it generates a private fee.
Your purchasing power shrinks every time the dollar weakens. Your 401k buys less in real terms. Everything you import costs more. And every time the dollar drops, demand for the private digital alternative goes up. The one the president's family owns. The one that by law must buy government debt.
You absorb the cost of a weakening dollar. His family collects the profit. That is the trade.
The enforcement mechanism to stop a sitting president from doing this? There isn't one. Former White House ethics lawyer Richard Painter says it would be a violation for literally any other federal employee, but not the president.
Nobody voted for this. No one was asked. There was no debate. There is no enforcement mechanism. There is no one investigating it. The Senate tried and it was blocked.
This is the largest conflict of interest in American history happening in broad daylight while everyone argues about something else.
So what do you do? Share this. Make it impossible to ignore. Send it to your representative, your senator, every journalist you follow. We make them answer for it.
Because the only thing protecting this scheme right now is the fact that not enough people understand it yet.
This is what people are going to increasingly ask themselves about Japan. “What is the value proposition?” I can get paid better somewhere else, I can actually integrate in other countries. I can use the language I learn more readily form a country like say, Spain.
Replying to @AtsuroTsujino
They want to make it like SG where workers from poor countries do the dirty jobs but have no pathway to staying.
However in SG these workers don't need to pay into pension or pay same taxes as locals or spend years learning a complex language only useful in one country.

On June 8, Marriage For All Japan will be handing a petition in favor of marriage equality to the Supreme Court. Right now it has been signed 31,000 times and there are only a few more days left.
