when fic writers say they miss the engagement they literally mean that one comment they randomly get that says "i stayed awake to unreasonable hours to finish this fic, that was the best thing i've read in months" that will give them motivation to write for the next weeks to come

Fic writers who want engagement are not mining for kudos or whatever. We are people who screamed for 20,000 words about our ship and now WE WANNA TALK TO PEOPLE ABOUT IT!! When we say we want interaction, we mean we want to talk about the thing we both like!

general question: what kind of comments do authors like to receive? i hesitate to leave comments bc i normally just say variations of "i enjoyed this a lot!! :D" or "this was great! looking forward to the next chapter" if it's chaptered is that too short? do i add more?
