I reckon that's true for just about everyone, on both sides. If nothing else, President Trump certainly caused the leftists to accelerate their agenda. Doing so had the added benefit of unmasking most of them, allowing us to see the true nature of their worldview.
A clear formulation that pinpoints the flaw.
Socialists often mistake sanctimony for compassion.
Compassion is caring enough about others to voluntarily invest your own time, money, or effort in helping them.
Sanctimony is congratulating yourself for your moral superiority while demanding that others bear the costs.
There's no virtue in volunteering someone else's money, labor, or property to satisfy your moral ambitions, especially when you're willing to use force to obtain it.
You're claiming moral credit for investments you never made and calling those who refuse selfish.

So, basically, 500 million Europeans expect 300 million Americans to protect them from 120 million Russians who can’t even defeat 40 million Ukrainians while those 500 million Europeans don’t even realize they are being conquered by 2 billion Muslims who claim they are being persecuted by 8 million Israelis. We are not going to tolerate threats to assassinate the president. Allison Albro, 21, Daytona Beach, is learning that the hard way. She posted this last night and got a visit from the @VolusiaSheriff Domestic Security Unit and the @SecretService. She said she was joking with this post, she doesn’t have access to a Glock or any other weapon, and she would never hurt anyone. Today she’s sitting in jail on charges of written threats to kill and unlawful use of a communications device. I would strongly advise anyone else thinking of posting a “joke” along these lines to think twice. VSO continues to work hand in hand with the Secret Service, FBI and all our law enforcement partners to ensure this presidential visit to Daytona Beach is a safe event for all who attend, and for our whole community.
