He screamed like a little girl for not getting bail. He’s a Municipal Manager accused of inflating fleet tender from R4M to R24M, diverting some funds into his personal accounts. His bail application was denied yesterday 😂😂

Vote very carefully — or the flotsam and jetsam of coalition parties could hand us this as Mayor of the City of Johannesburg.

In late 2024, a young Mozambican blogger named Mano Shottas was shot and killed while livestreaming a protest against pollution linked to the transport of chromium ore. Since then, illegal dumping has persisted along the border with South Africa, with little response from the authorities. FARM ATTACK: Another South African farmer attacked and brutally tortured on his farm this week. Cattle farmer, Donovan Marx, from the North West province, had his ears cut off on Wednesday morning during a farm attack. He was also shot in the shoulder and stabbed (with a sharp object) in the leg. And, for the umpteenth time, as far as I can determine, not a single article on any English media platform about it. This gross coverage disparity between the Afrikaans and English media when it comes to farm murders is what makes it possible for so many politicians and commentators to get away with their disgusting farm murder denialism. You know what's even more infuriating? History and research shows, if the victim was black and the torturers were white, we would see this story on every front page and news channel for weeks. Debates, panel discussions, political party statements - the works! The president would even come out and condemn the attack. Again, I refuse to accept the twisted, psychopathic standard that dismisses a farmer having his ears cut off as "just normal crime."

R8.89 MILLION FOR POLITICAL ELITES. NO RESOURCES FOR VICTIMS OF CRIME. South African taxpayers have footed a staggering R8.89 million bill for Police Minister Senzo Mchunu's remuneration, legal fees and the salary of his acting replacement, while Mchunu remains on special leave amid serious allegations of political interference and corruption. Meanwhile, ordinary South Africans are repeatedly told there aren't enough resources to fight crime. - Almost 7,000 SAPS vehicles are out of service. - Detectives overwhelmed with hundreds of case dockets each. - Critical shortages of specialised detectives investigating crimes against women and children. - Serious shortcomings at GBV desks, including inadequate staffing, training and privacy. - Shortages of rape evidence and forensic collection kits. - 300,000 DNA exhibits backlogged in South Africa's forensic system. - Forensic laboratories plagued by delays, equipment shortages and wasted expenditure. - Police stations deteriorating and officers lacking basic equipment, including computers and stationery. - Murder investigations stalled, leaving victims' families without justice. Yet there is money for two police ministers, millions in legal fees and a minister who continues to draw a salary while not performing his duties. This is not simply a question of insufficient resources. It is a question of priorities. Government seems more committed to protecting the political elite than protecting the people it is supposed to serve. Action Society calls for an end to this abuse of taxpayers' money. Ministers should not be allowed to remain on paid leave indefinitely, and the public should not automatically be expected to bankroll their legal battles. Every rand wasted protecting political careers is a rand that could have been spent protecting victims, investigating crimes and bringing perpetrators to justice. South Africans deserve a government that serves the people, not the politicians.

⚡The DA gets the basics right. Residents of Snake Park in Soweto will go to sleep tonight with working lights after being left in the dark by the chaotic governance in Joburg for months. The DA is committed to getting Joburg working for all. Vote DA on November 4th to stop the chaos and start service delivery. #VoteDA

I have been a financial advisor for awhile now and it occurred to me that we make financial planning for too complicated, so here is my attempt at making it simple . For those who like maths, I thought I would share this basic formula for growing your nest egg : S + (R × S) − T = L Savings + Returns on Savings − Tax = your future Liabilities Those liabilities are the life you want: retirement, school fees, the house, looking after the people you love, travel. So where’s the magic in financial advice? • Teaching that investment returns are a function of savings • Helping you see that savings = income earned less what you spend. Spending less helps. Earning more is better over the long run • Matching returns to your risk appetite. There is no perfect plan — only one you’ll stick to • Coaching that lower risk = lower returns. You can’t have your cake and eat it • Recognizing that tax eats returns. Pay less tax and you’re less forced to save, or your future “liability” can be bigger • Having someone to blame when markets fall. And a sounding board to help you stick to the maths when life doesn’t go as planned

President Stubb: Russia loses more troops in a month in Ukraine than USSR lost in 10 years in Afghanistan. "Roughly 25,000 soldiers are being killed per month. Put that into perspective: the Soviet war in Afghanistan, 10 years and 18,000 casualties and dead. And that, in my mind, is a waste of life." 📹: UN Security Council, September 23

Two Home Affairs Officials Appear In Court After Allegedly Receiving R10k to Help Over 10 Pakistani Nationals Obtain South African Passports Using Citizens’ Credentials Two Home Affairs officials and a civilian have appeared before the Bothaville Magistrate’s Court in connection with alleged passport-related fraud and corruption involving approximately 10 Pakistani nationals. The three accused, Larrick Tirick Steward (23), Kamohelo Gordon Sebatane (45) and Thabiso Meshark Seutlwadi (44), were arrested between 26 and 27 October 2026. The Welkom-based Hawks’ Serious Corruption Investigation detectives received a complaint from the Department of Home Affairs in November 2022. The complaint alleged that, between January and March 2022, two Home Affairs administration clerks based in Bothaville assisted approximately 10 Pakistani nationals in applying for South African passports using the credentials of South African citizens. Further investigations allegedly revealed that the passports were issued using photographs of the Pakistani nationals, despite the applications being made under South African citizens’ credentials. The two Home Affairs officials allegedly received R10,000 in gratification from the Pakistani applicants in exchange for their assistance. The three accused face charges of fraud, corruption, contravention of the Identification Act and contravention of the Immigration Act. Warrants of arrest were authorised by the Bothaville Magistrate’s Court. They were released on free bail, and the matter was postponed to 20 January 2027 for their first appearance before the Regional Court.
