EVERYBODY experiences, "casual cruelty and abuse". That's just part of the human experience because we are inherently selfish, self-serving creatures. Everyone is a victim in some way. Likewise, everyone is a perpetrator in some way. Some are worse than others; but that's life.
"Fridging" is like the so-called "Bechdel Test" in that it was just an observation. It was never supposed to become a rule because, dramatically, it isn't sustainable.
These are not real people. No one is actually dying because these people don't exist. It's all fiction - all of it INCLUDING the characters.
It's very interesting how the tweet draws a line between, "WOMEN dying" and, "male CHARACTERS" as if the women aren't ALSO CHARACTERS.
Complaints like the ones this actor makes are easy when they aren't responsible for keeping a dramatic publication engaging and sales worthy for a long period of time. At some point you DO just kind of hit a wall where ANYTHING sounds like a good idea.
This hypothetical ignores the fact that if the series was Harriet Potter it would be written differently because men and women are not simply interchangeable and what isn’t being acknowledged is that there IS a difference between what appeals to boys and girls because they’re ARE
I mean - they're ALL intimidating. At a certain point the matter of degree to which they might be intimidating becomes valueless to measure because once you shit your pants, really, is there anything left to contemplate?
Interestingly this is NOT what this graph illustrates. What it DOES represent is the schism between men and women who post reviews to GoodReads.
Almost every, "core" whatever is performative bullshit. It's about being seen as the thing more than BEING the thing and it always turns into a competition to see who can be MORE the thing than everyone else. How about you just be sincere about being yourself.
Yeah jackass; that’s how the whole process fucking works. The side that loses the election is governed by the side that wins. The fact that, “your side” can’t sway enough voters outside the sparsely populated rural areas is not a symptom of a broken system.
Replying to @mkolken
Rural conservatives in deep-blue states are effectively governed without consent. In New York, Republicans win most counties yet still lose statewide by 20 points because dense urban and suburban voters in New York City and its suburbs cast the decisive ballots and vote overwhelmingly Democratic. The result is that rural and upstate communities pay the taxes, live under the regulations, and absorb the costs set by politicians they consistently reject. Same story in California and Illinois. Population density has become a veto over the rest of the state.
At this point in the suits production if they were going to add additional padding they would have to re-tool the entire piece. You can just stick extra foam underneath the, “fabric”. Layer - it has to be sculpted, then molded and cast. It’d be like starting over.
You know, telling stories about Wonder Woman as the “ambassador of peace and love” superhero is a lot like telling stories about the pacifist monk who is the defender of the innocent. At some point you have to acknowledge the contradiction.
There seems to be a fundamental problem with how ball is being taught these days. Is it just that there's more emphasis on aggressive play for entertainment value or are the fundamentals of sportsmanship no longer of any value?
I am all for Vision leading a story about the importance of living through grief but I find the retconning less expansive and engaging than it is distracting.
🚨 For anyone who is confused after watching 'VISIONQUEST' Episode 7, here's the whole story explained in simple words.
'VISIONQUEST' has completely changed what we know about the origins of artificial intelligence in the MCU.
• Dr. Phineas Horton created J.I.M. (Jim Hammond), the original Human Torch, laying the foundation for artificial life.
• Dr. Josephine Carrington and Dr. Katerina Wells developed the foundational AI technology that was eventually sold to Tony Stark.
• However, Carrington had a secret third partner, a mysterious human played by James Spader.
• This man appears to be the original human model behind Ultron. Even Ultron's iconic phrase, "Peace in our time," originated from him.
• Tony Stark acquired the original AI technology and incorporated its foundations into his own creations, connecting this research to the wider lineage of MCU artificial intelligence, including J.A.R.V.I.S., F.R.I.D.A.Y., E.D.I.T.H. and Ultron.

I may not like every little bit of VisionQuest but I do admire their attempt to bring a more expressionist psychological exploration into the material. The underlying structure of the piece is really engaging and the big names in the cast really do the work especially PB.
“You have placed me on a pedestal so impossibly high, and not to honor me. Not to honor me! But to spare yourself the effort of the climb.”
holy shit, Vision is always dropping these absolutely banger lines

See kids, this here is another example of a deflection made worse by the fact that it comes a la mode with a big ol scoop of stupid on top because they have to pretend that you can't TALK about a thing without showing it. Get a better argument.
Doesn't matter what other people think. You're the one who has to live with it so you decide how you feel about it.
How do you feel about this new #BodyHairPositivity movement that’s picking up momentum?
