A country the size and resources as Nigeria that experiences a NATIONAL POWER GRID Collapse is a huge joke! It's a new level of mediocrity and offers very little hope of any meaningful advancement. Singapore generates electricity from trash! Trash! – at Federal Capital Territory, Nigeria

Sometimes, when I look back at some of the things that have happened in this nation and how corruption has always fought back, I just shake my head. Let me tell you an interesting story. In 2005, Adolphus Wabara was the Senate President of Nigeria under the administration of Chief Olusegun Obasanjo. During the preparation and approval of the 2005 budget by the National Assembly, the Senate Committee on Education discovered that the Ministry of Education's budget was very bogus. So, what did the committee do? The Senate Committee threatened to slice or block the budget allocation for the Ministry of Education. To ensure that the ministry's budget was passed intact or inflated, the then Minister of Education, Professor Fabian Osuji, mobilised ₦55 million. According to Professor Osuji, the ₦55 million was not a bribe but rather a necessary "welfare package" demanded by lawmakers to protect the education sector. Now, you will ask, how was Professor Osuji able to mobilise the money? Well, to raise the money, Professor Osuji directed ministry officials to extract ₦35 million from votes under their control. Because that was not enough, he went further to secure an additional ₦20 million illegal loan from the National Universities Commission (NUC). President Olusegun Obasanjo later received intelligence about the transaction. In a dramatic, televised national broadcast in March 2005, Obasanjo unmasked the actors and declared their actions a betrayal of public trust. But President Olusegun Obasanjo did not stop there. He summarily dismissed Fabian Osuji, while the Senate President, Adolphus Wabara, was forced to resign his leadership position. The Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC) subsequently arraigned them alongside several other lawmakers. Interestingly, in 2010, in a controversial ruling, the Court of Appeal, presided over by Justice Mary Peter-Odili, quashed the 15-count charge against Wabara, Osuji and others. According to the court, the charges were "frivolous and baseless" and failed to establish a prima facie case. The court also criticised Obasanjo's broadcast as an executive "trial by media" that prejudiced the case. But the story did not end there. In 2013, the case got to the Supreme Court, and the judgment of the Court of Appeal presided over by Justice Mary Odili was overturned. The Supreme Court held that Osuji's statements and the evidence presented were more than enough to warrant a trial and ordered an accelerated retrial at the lower court. Interestingly, when the case returned to the High Court in 2019, Justice S.E. Aladetoyinbo discharged and acquitted Adolphus Wabara and two other co-defendant senators. Why? Because, after 14 years of trial, the ICPC could no longer produce witnesses to testify. With the witnesses unavailable, the ICPC applied to withdraw the case, leaving the court with no choice but to acquit the defendants under Section 355 of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act 2015. Nigeria has always been a case of the more you look, the less you see. I am Ekene Aninze, Esq.

It's this kind of 𝐌𝐫 𝐌𝐚𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐢 life that I am so craving for . From being that content creator on burgundy agbada whose pictures alone would make people scream, "Freaky freaky!" to becoming a creator who gradually transitioned into acting, earning roles in major productions like Jagun Jagun*l, Aníkúlápó and many others. To becoming that citizen who understands that beyond making people laugh, he has a responsibility to speak up, without jokes and without fear or favour, against the injustices happening in his country. To taking a long break from social media, stepping away from the noise, and returning with a healthier appearance, a more intentional approach to his weight, a renewed sense of peace and, most importantly, an additional feather to his already colourful cap. Today, he has added another beautiful chapter to his story by graduating from an institution that has been part of his dream of becoming a better actor. And Baba didn't come to play! He rocked his agbada proudly to his convocation, and I couldn't help smiling as I watched him celebrate this milestone. A Master of Arts with Distinction in Performance (Acting) from the Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts is no small achievement. One thing I find particularly beautiful about Mr Macaroni's journey is that he has never allowed himself to be boxed into one identity. He has shown us that you can make people laugh, make them think, challenge a system, take a step back when necessary, return with a renewed sense of purpose and still make room for your own personal growth. In age where creators have been reduced to "cruise catchers", There's something refreshing about watching someone you've known primarily as a social media entertainer continue to discover and pursue other dimensions of himself. And for this, we say a big Congratulations, Mr Macaroni. You DID IT! We are watching, and we are rooting for you! And as always, thank you for coming to my T€D writes ✍🏿. #tedwrites #mrmacaroni #Congratulations

URGENT PUBLIC APPEAL I never imagined having to make a post like this, but I desperately need your help. On October 31, while covering a wedding at Oriental Hotel, Lagos, my bag was stolen from inside the bride's room. The bag contained my MacBook Pro M1 and FOUR external hard drives holding approximately FIVE weddings yet to be delivered to my clients. These are not just files. They are people's once in a lifetime memories, months of hard work and my livelihood. Thankfully, we have obtained CCTV footage showing the individual entering, taking my bag and leaving the hotel. I'm offering a N500,000 REWARD for credible information leading to the identification of this individual and recovery of my belongings through the appropriate authorities. Please you can send a message or call this number for any update 09033892670 Please guys help me repost abeg, this is very important please. 🙏🏾

It’s supremely disconcerting that the phrases ‘conman’ and ‘corn man’ would make sense to any Nigerian without any more context provided. Dark times, literally…😮‍💨

For days now, we have all been complaining about the terrible power supply in the country and no one in government till this very moment deemed it fit to tell us why the power supply is epileptic and what they are doing to savage the situation. This is enough to not vote Tinubu. He is clueless in government and terrible at appointing the right people. Some people are standing on your mandate and you are making them stand inside okunkun birimu birimu. Is that fair? Please go home 🙏

My thoughts, disclaimer I'm not holding back 😡👇 - Absolutely dreadful performance, Iraola is struggling - We create absolutely nothing. - Nyoni was our best midfielder by a distance. - We got caught badly with Barcola, his stats padding in France fooled everyone. - Tsimikas is dreadful, signing a LB should be a priority. - Muñoz looks all pace and not loads else, could only ever see him as a squad player. - Gakpo is still our best left winger in terms of goal contributions. - Szoboszlai offered nothing even his set pieces were poor. - Jacquet was a joke for their goal, a centre back should not be turning their back like that in a wall. Hid poorest performance for LFC. - MacAllister worst game of the season. - Ngumoha shouldn't have been taken off. - Alisson was poor for 2nd and 3rd goal, he was a liability tonight

This light situation is ridiculous. Not had 24 hours cumulatively in the last 24 days. Biggest mistake we made was agreeing to this Band A and B nonsense. It’s just st an excuse to shirk responsibility as always

I have been in Lagos for over a week. Lagos is the commercial capital of Nigeria. Lagos is the richest state in Nigeria. Lagos is the most cosmopolitan state in Nigeria. Most things start in Lagos and then trickle down to other states. If the power supply is this bad in Lagos, how then is it in other states? There has been no light since last night. I pay a lot in taxes in this country only to face a challenge that most countries solved decades or even centuries ago. Why are Nigerians behaving as if it is okay not to have a steady power supply in 2026? It seems that most Nigerians have a cultural tendency to tolerate discomfort. That is why we are where we are.

President Tinubu doesn’t deserve a second tenure if we actually follow what he said. He used his own hands and ruled himself out! He said don’t vote for me again if I don’t give you 24hrs electricity, so I’m genuinely confused why are you still campaigning for someone who told you not to vote for him? Don’t be a dunce!

What's even more unfair to Nigerians is the Presidency's silence on the state of electricity in the country. We know 24/7 power has always been a challenge, but it has never been this bad. The country is practically being plunged into darkness. Nigerians deserve answers.
