New preprint from me & @DianaTamir! "The brain represents situations and mental states as sums of their action affordances" We present fMRI evidence that neural representations of situations & states reflect predictions about associated actions. Link: psyarxiv.com/7eskf 🧵👇

Today is @SCRAP_Lab's 1st lab-aversary! I am deeply grateful for all that these folks have done over the past year to make the lab a happy, dynamic place to do science. I couldn't be more proud of what we've achieved together so far, or more excited about what's next!
With @Mark_A_Thornton's first day @dartmouth today, SCRAP Lab is now officially in (socially-distanced) business! Excited for the arrival of the rest of our team - @LinChujun, @lindseytepfer, & @BullsLandry - over the coming months!

Update: we have expanded our cross-cultural research on mental state representation in collaboration with our new co-author, @DrSarahWolf from @JTSVoice. Specifically, we added a fourth society to our historical analyses by analyzing large portions of the Jewish liturgy.
