“Everyone has the right to be who they are, to express that and to be safe doing so.
It absolutely is a human rights issue that no male player in the ALF feels safe to come out as gay.”
Powerful words from Amnesty International’s Chloe Clark 🙌 #4corners

How brave is Michael O’Donnell? Give him some 🙌.
Thank you for the kind words about tonight’s Four Corners episode. Credit should go to @Milliganreports for putting together such a thoughtful piece. I could only do something like this with the support of my family, friends and teammates - which I’ve always been lucky to have.

No professional male AFL player, past or present, has ever publicly come out as gay or bisexual. Insiders say a culture of homophobia lingers. abc.net.au/news/2023-08-21/a…

I often am asked "who cares?" or "why does it matter?" when athletes like @IsaacHumphries7 and @JoshuaCavallo come out.
Here is your answer ⬇️⬇️.
Important work @KonradMarshall @GoodWeekendMag @katrinastrick
Who cares?
All too often it’s the reflex question when a professional athlete comes out.
Take a moment, and allow @MelbUnited centre @IsaacHumphries7 to explain who cares and why, in @GoodWeekendMag - sharing his tale of trauma, love and hoops 🏀🌈💪

Hey @WorldRugby @BillBeaumont and PR head @dominicrumbles seems odd you are ignoring the global celebration of Ellia Green's historic coming out: Rolling Stone, NBC, CNN, People ... Guess the decision to harm kids with your trans ban makes things awkward? rollingstone.com/culture/cul…

Are you ready for the 7th AFL Pride Game this Saturday night!? We can’t wait!
We're proud to launch our 2022 Pride guernsey 🏳️🌈
A continuation of last year's design, the guernsey now features the names of more than 275 organisations who have hosted a @PrideCup match or event.

We think the blanket exclusions from various international sporting bodies we've seen recently are unfair, unfounded and discriminatory.

Anti-trans activists are rolling back the rights of all women & girls in sport & they don’t care
Out On The Fields retweeted
Anti-trans organisations who have no history in sport are creating a situation where International Sports Federations are returning to archaic ‘sex-texting’ practices for women & girls in sport.
The same practices that women IN sport have been campaigning for years to abolish

Research from @MonashUni found most women athletes do not believe that transgender women and girls have an "unfair advantage" in sport. The findings are consistent with interviews and focus groups conducted in Australia, England and Canada. smh.com.au/sport/majority-of…

It’s honestly exhausting working in the UK LGBT+ voluntary & community sector (VCS) right now.
As it is, we only receive 0.04% of all VCS funding, which is disproportionately low in relation to population.
Now we are having so much of our focus diverted by anti-trans rhetoric

Heroic stuff from @JoshuaCavallo.
It's 5 years since we published @Outonthefields, which found rampant homophobia in sport across the Anglosphere.
That Josh is the world's only out gay athlete in tier 1 football shows not enough has changed.

For those media outlets constantly peddling transphobia & then seeking quotes from us about gay footballers coming out, we won’t be speaking to you. Thanks 🙏

Commanding start from our Aussie #Rugby7s team.
Can we take a moment to appreciate our captain’s 🏳️🌈 headgear? She worked hard with the IOC to have it approved for the Olympics. A proud out woman, Sharni knows the power of visibility. #LGBTQ #Pride #Toyko2020 #Rugby
