PAIS, PANS & PANDAS are complex autoimmune diseases that require a multi-system approach. Multiple studies demonstrate that speech disfluency (including tics, stuttering and baby talk) can be seen with Autoimmune or Basal Ganglia Encephalitis. Clinical experience and studies demonstrate a link between infections, including strep, viruses, mycoplasma, Lyme and co-infections, and speech dysfluency.
