The same artist who painted The Scream also painted this.
Edvard Munch's The Sun is almost its opposite: bright and full of life.
Munch painted darkness, but also light. Life always gives you a second chance.

5 November 1920 | A Jewish woman, Régine Beer, was born in Amsterdam. The following year her family moved to Antwerp.
Régine became a teacher. After the German occupation of Belgium, she continued working at a school. On the night of 3/4 September 1943, Régine was arrested during a large German roundup of Jews in Belgium. She was detained in the Dossin Barracks in Mechelen.
On 19 May 1944, she was deported to Auschwitz in Transport XXV.
In the camp, Régine was registered as prisoner A-5148. She worked first in a kitchen and later as an assistant to bricklayers. She suffered from dysentery and typhus. As the camp complex was evacuated, Régine was forced on death marches and was subsequently imprisoned in Ravensbrück and Malchow camps. She survived.
From the 1970s onward, Régine Beer devoted much of her life to speaking about what she had experienced. She gave thousands of talks in schools and educational institutions, warning against racism, antisemitism and intolerance. Her memoirs were published in 1992. She later received several distinctions for her educational and civic work.
Régine Beer died on 23 March 2014 at the age of 93.
