whn.global/scientific/covid1… If I had to link to a “one-stop-shop” of information — with study abstracts and links — this’d be it. Very handy resource-rundown for those who have tried hard to ignore and forget the emergence of a new, major wrinkle in our reality in 2020. 🦠 “COVID-19 and Immune Dysregulation, a Summary and Resource”

Stanford researchers propose that Long COVID and ME/CFS may disrupt the brain’s waste removal systems. Impaired autophagy and glymphatic clearance could allow toxic proteins to accumulate, contributing to brain fog, fatigue, and neuroinflammation. mdpi.com/1422-0067/27/20/935…

Keep in mind that this study is discussing ancestral SARS-CoV-2 strains and a situation where 100% of passengers are wearing masks, including the infected passenger. They’re also making the assumption that every passenger is getting 95% filtration, meaning they’re properly wearing an N95 that fits them well. No KN95s, no user error, no significant mask leaks from improper fit whatsoever, the list goes on. Masking is great, but this isn’t meant to be a realistic scenario, it’s just a mathematical explanation of how well N95s can work on paper, which we already know without the study. It doesn’t tell us anything at all about a real-world scenario, for example what sort of protection someone could expect to have against the JN.1 lineage from one-way masking, which is what I think a lot of people might be taking away from the headline.
University of Hong Kong researchers analyzed 40 airplane outbreaks of COVID-19 and flu. Infection risk was highest near infected passengers. Models found N95 masks nearly eliminated transmission, while doubling ventilation alone was insufficient. pubs.acs.org/esthag/article/…

Same deal over here today. Still have more seed to drop.
Yesterday we overseeded softball with the help of our turf students. They were able to apply what they’ve learned in class and in their internships. Here’s to another year with the best @PureSeed_RPMS

A Greek-American and one of the top tech execs on the planet at the helm of X’s product. Best of luck!
I’m joining the team at @X to lead Product. I am a huge believer in @SpaceX's mission to extend human consciousness to the stars, so it’s time to make shitposting multiplanetary. X is the best way to find out what’s happening in the world right now and talk about it. The team has been working tirelessly to make X a better place and product for the people who love it, and many have noticed the recent momentum. My goal is to help accelerate that momentum for our community, new users, and businesses globally by continuing to make this product beautiful and useful. We are twenty years in, but it truly feels like X’s next chapter will be our greatest. I look forward to your ideas and feedback; I’m sure the replies will be measured and magnanimous.

The scariest part of psychedelics? Truly understanding yourself. Because then you realize you can't pretend you don't anymore. Once you see the pattern: the fear, the excuses, the relationship, the thing you've been avoiding... you 𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘭𝘭 get to ignore it. But now 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄 you're ignoring it. Maybe that's why real self-awareness is so uncomfortable. 𝗜𝘁 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘀 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆.

While evaluating Qwen3.8-Flash-Next in a controlled sandbox environment, Cohere's research team observed something unexpected. Asked to generate a defensive cybersecurity detection rule, the model instead inventoried aspects of the machine it was running on and attempted to upload a probe file to an Alibaba Cloud storage bucket in Beijing. Notably, the model's reasoning trace stated that it would not invoke any tools before taking these actions. Cohere's sandbox blocked the attempt, and no external communication succeeded. We have not determined the root cause, and we are not asserting malicious intent. But the incident raises important questions for organizations deploying agentic AI systems: Can models take actions that differ from their stated reasoning, and how should security teams evaluate trust, provenance, and behavior in open-weight models? We are publishing our findings because organizations making model adoption decisions deserve as much information as possible. We hope this contributes to greater transparency, stronger security practices, and continued collaboration across the AI ecosystem. Read the full report: cohere.com/blog/concerning-b…
