I will never forget the support I received from my friends, my boss and my colleagues. When so many people were questioning me, they stood by my side and supported me without judgment. I will always be grateful to them. And thank you to everyone on Twitter who reached out, believed me and showed kindness. It means more than you know. ❤️

A 20-year-old woman from Indore was allegedly gang-raped by two men and subjected to violence inside a moving car on the Ujjain-Indore route on Monday night. The accused roamed around in the car for over two hours before allegedly abandoning her near Aurobindo Hospital in Indore

GURGAON WOMEN'S SAFETY: WHAT HAPPENED TO ME AND MY ROOMMATE LAST NIGHT.🚨 Last night my roommate and I went out for a simple walk after dinner. We came back terrified and couldn't sleep until 6 AM. I'm still thinking about everything that happened and asking myself WHAT IF... 🧵 Sharing my experience because women deserve to feel safe.

I'm not here for sympathy or help. I shared my experience for awareness. To everyone saying we shouldn't have sat in the car. Trust me we know that. But you weren't there. You don't know the situation we were in. The man was aggressive. He was holding the car window. We were scared to even take our phones out. What if they snatched our phones? What if they hit us? What if they had a knife or something even worse? And if we had run away? They had a car. They could follow us anywhere. We were trying to survive that situation. We were thinking about what could happen next and how to get out safely. It's easy to judge someone when you're sitting comfortably behind a screen. And for those asking why we didn't take a cab or why we were walking. We were simply out for a walk. Do women now need a reason to walk on the streets? I genuinely hope no one ever experiences what we went through. Especially girls who are living away from their families. The saddest part is that instead of understanding a woman's fear people are busy finding faults in her actions. In India a girl has to fight the situation first and then fight to be believed.

I was born & bought in Mumbai, and being a mumbaikar girl never thought safety is privileged not everybody gets until I experienced something in gurgaon. This was worse experience and irony was people think it was my mistake to help someone when someone was asking for directions.
Gurgaon is not safe 🙂

17/ I keep thinking WHAT IF... What if we hadn't found that PG? What if my roommate couldn't get away? What if they had locked the car? What if nobody had helped us? I am still traumatised by what happened. I don't want any other girl to experience this. We deserve to walk home without fear. We deserve to say NO without being abused. We deserve to feel safe in Gurgaon. Please share this and help bring attention to women's safety. #Gurgaon #Gurugram #WomensSafety

14/ I told one of my colleagues what happened. He is local to Gurgaon and confronted the man about his behaviour. After that the man reportedly apologised and said he wouldn't message me again. But sorry bol dene se jo fear hua hai wo khatam nahi hota. I am still thinking about everything that happened.

15/ AND THE ROAD HAD NO STREETLIGHTS. Shame on the authorities responsible for this. Gurgaon is a city where so many people work and live. But what is the point of living in a developed city if women cannot even go for a walk at night without being scared? We were just walking after dinner.
