I hear the argument... My experience of using AI tools doesn’t always feel like a multiplier. Sometimes it feels like a paywalled lottery ticket. I feel like I’ve never had more creative tools at my immediate disposal, but at the same time, I feel completely stuck in a creative lane because I don’t want to pay for the AI slot machine of creative influence. Imagine being a carpenter and being told you might get a hammer or a screwdriver at random—but if you’re lucky, the hammer builds the house in five minutes. That doesn’t feel like a clean productivity upgrade—more like a system where control has been externalized, and your output depends on the mood of the genie in the bottle on any given day.
