🌟KATE GREENAWAY MEDAL🌟
A petition Dr @rosevroberto and I set up now has 2100+ signatures.
At a time when illustrators STILL struggle to be credited, we'd like the name of this influential woman restored to her illustration prize.

Nah, I have to call this out: the publishing industry has a massive problem with grossly underpaying illustrators.
I have turned down many publishing jobs because the pay has been SO abysmal I've actually laughed in shock.
Here's an example from today:

Here it is again with alt-text.
p.s not often my love of @artofmmignola shows in my work, but I think it does here.
ALT Goat-headed demon: So it is decided: On midsummer’s eve, my words shall spew forth across the land like a black fire! Publisher: We prefer to say “publication day”… and we were hoping you might do some social media to promote the book? Demon: I cannot fathom the cursed opiate screens that so enthral your race. Publisher: Yeah, a few of our other authors feel like that, but that's why we have Toby. He's an absolute whiz! Toby: I’ll get you set up on twitter and you'll be the corrupting souls in no time! An hour later…. Toby is working on a computer. Behind him, he demon holds his head in his hands and says: I can endure this foul parade of doltish barbarity no longer! Please deactivate my account, wizard Toby.

My article for @TheBookseller is out!
Will publishing fight for illustrators against AI?
"Illustrators are constantly fighting battles to recognise our contribution; what we need now is for publishing to reassure us we won't be cut out altogether."
