ALT Hi folks my name is Joe I’m currently a member of the Annunciator Team and joined Parliament about 9 Months ago. At the age of 3 I was diagnosed with being on the Autistic Spectrum and whilst in primary and secondary School it was discovered I also have Dyslexia, Dyspraxia and Dysgraphia, prompting my family to often say that I have all the disses. I have also over the years battled with depression and high levels of anxiety in relation to my conditions and have a strong recognition of the important of speaking about the conditions I have and the effects they have on me. People with Autism, Dyslexia, Dysgraphia and all disabilities have a right to work in Parliament and be given the support and respect they need and deserve. I hope on this Neurodivergent Celebration Week that we all here in Parliament can take some time to learn, speak with those who are neurodivergent and familiarise ourselves with the different conditions that make up the spectrum and how we can all be better allies.

ALT An image of Time magazine. The border around the outside is red and the writing that says ‘Time’ is white. The photo is of a young Judith Heumann. She is wearing a yellow polo top and brown trousers. She has a blue jacket on with brown stripes over the shoulders. She is wearing white trainers. Judith is in her wheelchair, which is silver/grey and has black arm rests. She has short brown hair, pushed to one side, with a fringe, and glasses. She is smiling at the camera. The writing is in black and it reads ‘1977, Judith Heumann, Fighting for Access’.
