This is why players go down as means of protection. Max should have made sure the thug got his just deserts which is a red card. Honesty is not rewarded in English football. Thuggery? Absolutely. 🏆

It’s hard because a 16yo will want to show he is tough enough and can stand up for himself physically. But often best approach is go down, make a meal of it and get opponent booked.

I hope the appeal is successful. Max was assaulted and all he did was stand his ground. The ref was far too happy to brandish straight red. Unacceptable! Should be overturned but I doubt it will. At least Max knows his manager and club back him 1000%.

Reviewing the Max Dowman Red card this morning on @SkySportsNews No chance a red card and “Violent Conduct”. Watch the incident up close you can see how minimal the movement of his foot is. A reaction yes, but no chance a violent one.

Max has to learn not to react to thuggery. The manager is 100% right to tick him off. He should get the same treatment as everyone else. We are raising champions not toddlers.
