Every 6 hours in Scotland, someone dies of a preventable drug related death. We have the worst drug death rate in Europe & without action it will only get worse. That's why I have launched my Bill consultation in @ScotParl to establish Overdose Prevention Centres. Watch 👇👇

I recently got to see the Glasgow Green Station Stones, currently in storage at WEST Brewery🪨 Previously used as part of an artwork by Douglas Gordon, the stones are now set to be reimagined as part of a new event space. An exciting opportunity to give these stones a new lease of life while preserving a piece of the city’s heritage!

Glasgow Labour argued the £1m legacy fund should go back through proper community consultation. Local people and organisations deserve a real say in how money intended for the McVitie’s community is spent. SNP councillors rejected that proposal. glasgowtimes.co.uk/news/scot…

Glasgow was once the second city of the empire. It built a fifth of the world's ships. It had its own stock exchange and a subway before most of the world had electric light at home. It was meant to be the London of the north! Then we spent 50 years shrinking it. But the bones are all still there: the Victorian centre, the river, the subway, the universities, and a million and a half people within half an hour. Most cities would kill for that. Glasgow just needs someone to treat it like a capital again instead of a back office. And it pains me as an Edinburgh lad to say it.

Read some history! The idea of an oil fund was extensively debated in the 1970s and 80s. It’s all in Hansard. Criticising the decision not to establish one is perfectly legitimate. But pretending the possibility was denied until yesterday is just idiotic.
Replying to @LauraEWebsterr
So forgive me if seeing the actual Chancellor suddenly admit that yeah actually we would have an oil fund worth over a trillion - just like Norway - and trotting it out as a great big Labour talking point is completely infuriating

📣I raised concerns with Glasgow City Council about the unauthorised alterations to 219 Sauchiehall Street, which appears to have been installed without the necessary listed building or conservation area consent. I'm pleased that the Council has now opened a planning enforcement investigation into the vape shop frontage.

Once again, much of the British public in complete denial about the scale of intergenerational injustice which now defines the 2020s.
After Andy Burnham agreed with a LadBible podcast that Gen Z have it harder than Baby Boomers did, do the British public agree? Gen Z have it harder: 36% Boomers had it harder: 25% Both have had it equally hard: 24%
