"Clean rivers target is impossible to meet, says water regulator." And in other seasonal news the @EnvAgency have basically given up.
The original idea was that by 2027, at the very latest, 100% of rivers in the UK would be in 'Good' ecological condition. Theresa May's govt revised that number down to 75% in 2018. Current forecast, by 2027 just 6% will have achieved that goal.
The @EnvAgency were first tasked with delivering that objective in 2003.

And there's the interesting thing about Carol's comment, the water industry has taken to blatantly, deliberately and wilfully lying through its teeth simply to try and save its own skin.
I know someone else who was doing that until quite recently and look what happened to them
Sometimes the gaslighting for the sole purpose of greed leaves me astounded...
Beyond lies, gaslighting involves making the victim doubt reality, and blames them for the issue.
