When someday we're being dragged into the war Israel wants with Turkey, and this stooge is (naturally) cheering it on, can we for once remember that he's always wrong?
The midterm results told Republicans something we can't ignore: the Iran war is catastrophically unpopular.
Political will is a resource in foreign policy as much as any munition. If you don't have the political will for your plan, your plan won't work.
The people have spoken. They want the war over, and we need to end it.

VIDEO | Israeli settlers storm Bethlehem poultry facility, destroying thousands of eggs
A group of Israeli settlers stormed an agricultural poultry farm in the Dheisheh refugee camp south of occupied Bethlehem, carrying out widespread vandalism and destroying tens of thousands of eggs intended for local distribution, according to WAFA.
Eyewitnesses reported that the armed settlers deliberately smashed thousands of crates containing essential food supplies before escaping under the protection of nearby Israeli occupation forces.
The targeted facility supplied fresh eggs to hundreds of impoverished families and local merchants across the Bethlehem governorate, compounding severe food security shortages produced by ongoing military blockades and movement restrictions.

This is how ethnic cleansing in the West Bank is happening in practice, as admitted by and covered by the Israeli media. Settlers claim a house. The army declares a “closed military zone.” The Palestinian owner is locked out. The settlers move in. Mohammed has the license, 13 police complaints, and a High Court petition. He hasn’t been home in a year and a half. Israel has literally stolen his home, as they have done to Palestinians for generations.

The Republican Party threw away a generational opportunity to save our own country just to pander to a coalition that consists of Neocons who hate their own voters and a foreign country that’s an ocean and two continents away from us.
Anyone still defending launching a Middle Eastern War and sparking a global energy crisis 9 months before a midterm election is either an idiot, or a hack who only cares about America insofar as they can leverage her unique status as a global superpower in order to export their Neoconservative ideology abroad.
Your entire ideology is a cancer within the Republican Party and nothing can be done until we defeat people like you.
With Neocons, you either lose, or you win and they betray you.

“The reason we lost is the war.”
That’s true, but not the whole story. You guys all but put your hand on the Bible and swore you wouldn’t do it, and everyone knows the promise was broken solely to serve the interests of a foreign country. An appalling, brazen betrayal.
One of the things the data analysts on our side obsessed over was "composition"—whether the electorate looked close enough to 2024 for Republicans to win. And despite polls that showed a Democrat blowout, the data kept on telling us the same story: in some states turnout was merely OK, in other states it was downright amazing, and in no state was it catastrophic. There was a genuine sense of optimism on our team: our people were showing up.
So, I asked the smartest data guy I know, does that mean we're going to shock the world? "No," he told me. "We might do better than the polls suggest. But the data is telling us that a lot of Trump/Vance 2024 voters are pissed and planning to vote for the other guys. Our voters are turning out, but they may not vote for us."
Well, that looks prophetic now. Our voters did show up. In Florida, for example, the electorate was 9 points more Republican than Democrat, just a couple points worse than 2024. Undoubtedly there were places we could have done better on turnout. But the main problem is not turnout. The main problem is that many people who voted for Trump/Vance in 2024 voted for Democrats in 2026.
There will be a lot of infighting and arguing over what happened and why that is. One of the pollsters I really respect told me that our economic messaging wasn’t sharp enough down the stretch. I’m sure that’s true.
But the real reason we lost is obvious to almost everyone.
Another pollster—one of the smartest people I know in politics, told me yesterday we’d lose the generic ballot by 13 points. I felt negative going into Tuesday, but even I was shocked by this. In his polling, he saw that a lot of Trump 2024 voters were angry and planning to vote for Democrats. He asked those voters who had abandoned us what would cause them to come back on our team. The top four answers, accounting for nearly all of the responses were:
1) End the war
2) Focus on cost of living/inflation
3) Put America First
4) Change our relationship to Israel
Our voters showed up. And the above four reasons are why many of them voted for Democrats. This is according to a pollster who nailed the results. While many spent Monday attacking Rachel Campos Duffy for calling for a diplomatic resolution to the conflict, it turns out her political advice was sound. (She’s also a great person.)
In the next few months, there's going to be a lot of gaslighting. Expect to hear any number of establishment politicians say the solution to our woes is amnesty. I'm open to the idea that we should change enforcement—by focusing more on businesses that hire illegal labor, for instance. But anyone pushing amnesty is lying to you.
The reason we lost is the war. The president himself said so last night.
If you'd like to argue it was worth it, that losing the Senate for the next 6 years was worth it, then do so. Argue it was a worthwhile cost to pay. Agree or disagree, that's at least honest.
But everyone knows why we lost. And any honest conversation about where we go from here must start there.
I remain hopeful about our country. To the people who are pissed off and want to say, “I told you so”: you’re right, you did tell us so. Take that energy into electing Republicans who share your worldview. To the people who are just pissed at the results, you should be. Let’s take that anger and get back to the work of saving our country.

this is a real and honest statement. it speaks well of JD.
but i think it leaves an important item out:
yes, this is why people who once voted for you are pissed and "chose the bear" rather than the GOP.
but it goes deeper. for at least the last year, you guys have been attacking anyone who expressed these opinions savagely and so have your supporters.
you have not allowed these views. you have vilified dissent. you have called your own side stupid and evil and disloyal.
how did you think that was going to turn out? that they'd hold their nose and vote for you anyway?
that's not how that works.
you attack them, they dump you. you guys ruled like leftists with accusation and loyalty tests. you went directly after the people who tried to steer you away from this and sought to knock them out of office.
you became a cancel culture and got cancelled for it.
you shattered the promising alliance of 2024.
the GOP need to realize who your friends and allies are.
you just lost the whole youth vote of 2024 and then some.
they do not trust you to govern because you have not been trustworthy as government.
fix it or you guys will wind up like the tories and the CDU.

All you need to know about John Thune is that he’s the first Senate Majority Leader in American history to block a president from his own party from making recess appointments. Speaker Johnson should not have fallen on his sword. This guy should.
Over the last two years, Senate Republicans have put up a strong record of accomplishment that’s created safer streets, more money in Americans’ pockets, and new opportunities for families and businesses to get ahead. After fighting Democrat obstruction at every turn, we prevented the largest tax hike in American history, secured our border in an unprecedented way, confirmed the president’s Cabinet at the fastest pace in two decades, and put strong conservative judges on benches across the country faster than we have since the Reagan administration. I’m proud of our team and everything we’ve done for the American people, and I’m looking forward to the important work we have in front of us over the next few months. As we head into 2027, Senate Republicans will not stand idly by as the far-left, socialist wing of the Democrat Party attempts to unwind everything we’ve done. Thankfully, we still have President Trump in the White House, and we’ll work with him to stop the worst impulses of Democrat extremism. We cannot let their fringe positions become the mainstream.

No. You didn’t. You are absolutely 100% wrong. You did nothing of the sort. @NRSC Senate Republicans under YOUR “leadership” did nothing. Nothing.
You had the chance to begin the process of saving our election system from the radical left. By passing the SAVE America Act. But K Street either didn’t care or opposed it. So why bother, right?
Because the GOP Senate only does what can be monetized via those endless lobbyist dinners / fundraisers. If it can’t raise you money? Probably not worth doing.
And you BERATED @BasedMikeLee for trying to get you to work full weeks, to try to pass the SAVE America Act. Or to work a weekend sometime. Or not to recess for weeks in March and then again recess for a month in August. You and your fellow GOP Senators told him that nobody cared about the SAVE America Act. That he needed to sit down and shut up.
And the American people watched you, day after lazy, do-nothing day. And how you literally could not come up with a single idea to manage the Senate rules to get the bill passed. You just could not figure it out. Because you really didn’t and don’t care. And because you just are clueless.
What’s all the fuss, you say. It’s not a big deal to you that our election system has been taken over and manipulated by the left. That aliens by the hundreds of thousands are on our voter rolls, that there are illegal votes by the thousands in the election results…and that it matters. It matters to the USA. But not to you @LeaderJohnThune
So now, you don’t have to worry about it. You don’t have to be in charge of producing meaningful results for the American people. They just sent you to your room without any supper. I’m sure you must be relieved. You and your fellow GOP colleagues who just flat couldn’t be bothered to figure out how to save our elections.
Well done, you. What a waste of space you’ve been as a leader. That term should never be applied to you or to your inner circle.
Utterly disgusted by the lot of you. You did this. Tuesday was the Thune election. You own it. Hope you’re happy.
