Wearing of buffs by police officials is not allowed. This practice is contrary to the code of conduct for the South African Police Service, as it hides police official's identity.
ONLY specialised units deployed for specified operational purposes may wear buffs, that is Special Task Force (STF), National Intervention Unit (NIU) and Tactical Response Team (TRT) during official and approved operations.
Under no circumstance may the South African Police Service emblem be imprinted on the buff.
