Republicans spent election night discovering that โ€œpretend Iโ€™m on the ballotโ€ was not, in fact, a governing strategy. Trump, displaying his usual breathtaking commitment to personal accountability, offered this masterpiece of political self awareness: โ€œI wasnโ€™t on the Ballot and if I was, we would have won IN A LANDSLIDE!โ€ Apparently, the man who spent months demanding that voters treat every election as a referendum on him suddenly developed amnesia when the referendum came back with a resounding rejection. How convenient. It is the political equivalent of totaling your car, blaming the passengers, and then insisting the accident never would have happened if you had been driving. This is the same man who graciously acknowledged that Democrats โ€œdid a good jobโ€ and declared himself โ€œabsolutely willing to acceptโ€ the results, while simultaneously floating the veto hat. Nothing says accepting defeat quite like announcing that you intend to obstruct the people who just defeated you. Truly, a masterclass in losing without the inconvenience of admitting it. Then came Mike Johnson, whose contribution to the evening was apparently to explain that history was always going to win, despite polling that had been practically screaming about a Republican wipeout. โ€œWe faced some real odds,โ€ he lamented, which is a fascinating way of describing the consequences of spending two years ignoring every warning sign while confidently marching toward the electoral equivalent of a wood chipper. And now, naturally, the Republican Party is talking about a โ€œwake up call.โ€ How precious. A wake up call generally suggests that someone intends to get out of bed, examine what went wrong, and make meaningful changes. Republicans, meanwhile, have spent the last two years treating Democratic voters, Democratic candidates, and enormous portions of the American public as existential threats to civilization. They have spent years screaming about communists, invaders, enemies of America, and the supposed destruction of the republic. But suddenly, after getting their political teeth kicked in at the ballot box, they expect Democrats to pull up a chair, pour some coffee, and have a pleasant bipartisan conversation about โ€œcore principles.โ€ Absolutely not. You do not spend years vilifying an entire political party, questioning its legitimacy, attacking its voters, and treating compromise like an act of treason, only to lose an election and immediately demand cooperation from the people you spent years demonizing. That is not reconciliation. That is political entitlement with a fresh coat of desperation. And that brings us to what these election results actually mean. The voters who flipped Texas, Kansas, Ohio, South Carolina, Iowa, and a string of House seats did not send new Democratic majorities to Washington so they could participate in some adorable bipartisan friendship retreat with the very people voters just rejected. They did not vote for Democrats so Republican leadership could continue dictating the agenda while Democrats politely searched for common ground beneath the rubble. They voted to STOP the Republican agenda. They voted to reverse what can be reversed. They voted to ensure that the next two years do not become another installment of the same political disaster with a slightly different cast. Democrats were not elected to serve as unpaid therapists for a Republican Party experiencing the consequences of its own behavior. They were not sent to Washington to provide adult supervision for a movement that spent years treating bipartisanship as a one way street, only to suddenly discover the beauty of cooperation when it found itself on the losing end of an election. And spare us the inevitable lectures about statesmanship, unity, and reaching across the aisle. Republicans had their opportunity to demonstrate those principles. Instead, they spent years setting fire to the concept of political cooperation and are now apparently shocked that Democrats might not be interested in helping them roast marshmallows over the ashes. Working with a party that voters just repudiated on its own preferred political terrain is not statesmanship. It is surrender dressed up in a respectable suit. It is handing the losing side the authority to negotiate the terms of its own defeat. It is taking a democratic mandate and feeding it directly into the Republican obstruction machine. Democrats should not be working with Republicans to salvage their agenda, rehabilitate their reputation, or soften the consequences of an election they lost. Republicans can spend the next two years contemplating the political consequences of their actions without expecting Democrats to rescue them from those consequences. The newly elected Democratic majorities were not dispatched to Washington to negotiate away the very policies and principles voters elected them to defend. They were elected to USE THEIR MAJORITY. Stop the agenda. Reverse the damage wherever possible. Exercise the authority voters handed them. And let Republicans experience the extraordinary constitutional concept of losing an election and no longer getting to dictate what happens next. That is the mandate. Anything less is rewarding a political movement that has repeatedly and loudly declared Democrats illegitimate, treated compromise as weakness, and only discovered the virtues of bipartisanship once its own political power was threatened. Republicans spent two years making it abundantly clear that cooperation was beneath them. Democrats should respect that position. No bipartisan rescue mission. No political rehabilitation program. No surrender disguised as compromise. Republicans wanted to govern without Democrats. Now they can discover what it feels like when Democrats govern without them.
One thing my family has always taught me is to be gracious in defeat. Congratulations to our Democrat friends on a hard fought battle. Enjoy the victory. I genuinely hope both sides can work together for the good of the country. Itโ€™s time for some true soul searching, republicans.

Hasan Piker's message to Asmongold after finding out that Asmongold stopped his stream when he realized Talarico was likely to win. Talarico is Asmongold's new senator: "Why did you go offline? It's a big night for politics, Asmongold. Why did you go offline? Oh, that's right! BECAUSE TALARICO IS YOUR SENATOR NOW, BITCH! YOU'RE GOING TO JAIL! WE'RE MAKING IT ILLEGAL TO BE A FUCKING REACTIONARY! IT'S OVER!"

Haley Stevens @HaleyforMI grossly misjudged. Michigan dodged a literal bullet not voting for her.

Democrats are coming for all of you. Violating our civil rights and killing our people. That deserves only one punishment.

Democrats. Get rid of the filibuster.

You're next.
Texas, today is the day. James Talarico seems like a nice young man and a moderate. That's the act. This is a man who said "God is nonbinary." Who said there are six biological sexes. Who called capitalism an oppressive system he wants to dismantle. And who says we should look to Western Europe for inspiration. Take a look at Paris. His record is just as radical. He voted NO on border security, NO on cutting your property taxes, and NO on stopping cities from defunding the police. Lie to the voters, then get in power. Don't let it work. Get out and vote for @KenPaxtonTX.

I don't think @RepJeffries should be speaker. He was not helpful whatsoever.

Pedophile protector @SpeakerJohnson lost. Gloated earlier in the day that it was a sure thing Republicans would win. I had no idea how good of a job Democrats would actually do tonight. I said months ago the midterms would be a bloodbath. The Republicans imploded like the Titanic Sub.

A friend told me this: In the U.S. midterm elections, former Republicans are voting for the Democrats to punish the Republican Party. I think that way of thinking is shallow and ridiculous.

Or - if @ICEgov wants to stay, we can instruct them to round up all the MAGAs and deport them to the Middle East to fight for Israel.
