If you're looking to start your PhD in #BME / #Biomechanics / #Rehab, then let me get this on your radar early. Check us out (abl.bme.unc.edu/)! Chat with our group @AmSocBiomech and be on the lookout for a virtual open house with our team announced early this fall.
Can't wait to talk about my research using computer vision to estimate walking economy! Join us this Thursday to learn more about & discuss data science at UNC 🤓📈
Join us on Thursday, June 22 for lightning talks on how #DataScience and AI intersect with computational medicine, using wearable sensors and using video to understand human behavior. Register for this online event. bit.ly/3PdmIoH #DataScienceNow
I've been incredibly lucky to learn from @FranzBiomech the past 4 years. He leads by example with genuine interest & compassion. Now that I've earned my PhD, the most important lesson I've learned is to ask: "WWJD - What Would Jason Do?" -and that is likely the best step forward!
I'm stoked to host these amazing industry panelists next week! If you're interested in working in industry, come learn more and network with us next Wednesday, 11/9. Sign up: forms.gle/Red1MbAg5S8ZXWXQ6 @LatinXinBME @cientificolatin @IMEUNC @UNC_CLC

I worked with a masters student yesterday to pilot her protocol to collect biomechanics on volleyball players.
We used OpenCap then downloaded the data a few minutes later.
She couldn’t stop smiling. It was contagious.
I’m excited for the future of motion capture!

This week, I'm so lucky to race at Collegiate Mountain Bike Nationals again as a PhD student and veteran rider for @UNCcycling! So much has changed since I last competed in 2014, but its great to still be riding and meeting other amazing racers. Life is always better on a bike!

Chapel Hill & Carrboro residents need a better bikeway to UNC. Lets DO this! – at Chapel Hill, NC
Introducing the Libba Cotten Bikeway Extension.
We're advocating to extend the Libba Cotten Bikeway, the trail that goes between downtown Carrboro and W. Cameron Ave, by creating a protected, on-street, two-way path to UNC’s campus.

📢Job Oppurtunity! I am looking for some team members with a MSc or PhD to join me in my biotech startup! It includes skeletal muscle (or course), but what I really need is someone able to implement AI for image feature extraction and analysis. DM for more info! Pls share!
Just published our "clamp protocol" paper! This project was pretty fun to think about how we might dissociate walking speed and propulsive force (Fp), and quantify how these variables impact metabolic cost. doi.org/10.3389/fspor.2022.9…
You may say: "well, duh!" and state the obvious Newtonian mechanics "F=ma", and that is exactly what we set out to test! These findings provide a simple target (+Fp) for individuals looking to accelerate their walking via wearable devices or rehabilitation programs.
